Vermont 50 Ultra run

Has anyone done this race? If you have would you be so kind as to share your coments on it. My wife has done her first 50K and is now looking for a 50 miler in the fall, this one is a posibility but she’d like to hear what others have to say.
Thanks

I personally never did the run, I did the 50 mile mountain bike…the run was on the same course. My good friend Barry Lewis has done a few times.

Very hilly, pretty hard course as 50 milers go…he won the race one year, I think his time was 8 hours plus. They have a 50K option now.

Should be end of Sept race so has been low 40’s temp in the morning when it starts, gets up to 60’s by the end.

Good luck!!

I’ve done 2 50ks and a 40 mile run. Frankly if you hold a mountain bike race on the same course then it can’t be a hard run course ;-).

Vermont 50 Miler.

8000 vertical feet of climbing.

Thats no picnic!

Not a picnic, but neither of the races I’ve done would be faster on mountain bike. Very few rideable sections and many sections where carrying or pushing would be tough.

Those sound really tough.

But poster wants to know about Vermont 50 miler.

I did 5:03 at Vermont 50 which was only good for top 25 placing (500 bike entrants) but winning run was 8:00 plus. I remember my buddy Barry was having trouble getting on the podium his legs were so shotafter the run!

try posting here: it’s a good forum for ultra related questions.

Looks like positive comments from a quick browse of the race reports. I have a couple of friends who’ve done the VT100 and enjoyed it.
The best way to find out how tough it is, is to find results on RealEndurance.com from people who have done the 50k she just did AND the vt50, then compare the times.
