Doh…The move from the proposed LB course (which was going to be a parking lot) to Venice Beach “promises a sunning backdrop for athletes and spectators alike”. So has Knibb already signed up for every IM in the circuit now, lol.

In fairness I checked about 4 weeks ago and the water was fine then.

I’ll have to ask my sources if WT asked for either additional events or replacement events. It was noted 24 of the 31 sport federations requested changes to the program vs what was at Paris.
Tri will stay the same.

Well the location is certainly a massive improvement over Long Beach, but I still don’t think there’s any way they can make an interesting course in Venice. There’s not really any elevation to play with on the bike or the run and I’d be surprised if they can get access to run down Abbott Kinney. On the bright side, there’s some damn good eating to enjoy in the area.

Our running club used to do hill repeats just blocks inland from the Venice Beach. I suspect, though, they will keep to a loop incorporating the boardwalk and Ocean Blvd and Main Street, Pico and (wait for it) Olympic Blvd. It could be excellent for spectators.
