So I have been going out for rides with my little torque wrench just in case my seat post slides down and it has. I crank it down to the prescribed 5n-m and within about 15-20 miles of not even terribly rough roads it has slid down about a position or a cm. Any thoughts on what is the cause and the solution?
No idea what is in hairspray, but Richie makes a paste specifically designed for this issue. It has the consistency of grainy toothpaste.
One application of the paste pretty much solves your problems, so you can remove and adjust the seat post. Me thinks you would need a new layer of hairspray if you took the post out for traveling.
Another home remedy is good old tooth paste. Not gel, but old school with pumice in it. I fought my TTX forever, threw out $40 on carbon pastes of all manner, shop gave up…read on here about paste and voila.
it happened on my SW SL2 before but never happened on my SL3 even Venge(i don’t usually use a torque wrench on a seatpost), i think you need to use some carbon fiber grip paste. also specialized made some seatposts which have a very big tolerance(i had one on the SL2), you can measure your seatpost than contact the local dealer, they may help you to apply a warranty on that. have fun!
