I recently got a line on a Veloce 100 for a low price ($500) and I am wondering if that is something worth acting on.

A little bit of background… I am new to triathlon and I have a road bike with aero bars. I have been monitoring ST and eBay for a triathlon frame for a few months now, waiting for a good deal. I want to upgrade to a legit triathlon frame, but I don’t want to spend anything over probably $700. From the research I’ve done, the 100 seems like a good frame. Then again, I am new to the sport and could be overlooking certain things.

With a patient, $700 budget, is this frame worth the purchase, or am I likely to find other good deals some time down the line? It is worth mentioning that the $700 budget includes used frames and that the Veloce 100 would be new (and without a cockpit).

It is a 10 year old open mold design. I think $500 is way too much for that. It is the same frame as the planet x stealth and I think you can get those for around $300 new. It is not a bad frame in general but just not very aero so maybe you are better off sticking with your road frame and getting a full on modern tt bike like a user p2 once you saved up enough. It is better to have a road and tt bike anyway
