Velomax Wheel's

I’m looking at getting a pair of Ascent II Velomax wheels. Have people had good luck with them? Is there something better.

I’ve ridden them several times, and know a couple people that swear by them. Don’t know anyone who has had bad luck, and the couple times I rode them I thought they were very smooth and comfy. All indications are very positive.

Velomax (now owned by Easton) makes top-notch stuff. You won’t be disappointed. Ascent II are awesome.

I had 'em…loved 'em…and will hopefully someday have the opportunity to torture the scumbag that stole 'em with my KM 40.

They are great wheels…I’d buy 'em again in a heartbeat.

On a lighter note…got my new ride…http://store1.yimg.com/I/trisports_1843_1769777...........and it seems a worthy replacement.

Just hope the insurance coughs up or I am gonna be having a lot of bake sales!

Man that sucks…

But I must say that is a more than worthy replacement.

I love kestral a beautiful bike.

As record10 would say, “it has soul.”

thanks, matt

At the risk of really gushing, I can’t say enough good about Velomax (now Easton) wheels. The Vista, Circuit and Tempest II are absolutely superb. I have a pair of Circuits as high end training wheels and a set of Tempest II’s as a super fast ride clincher wheelset.

The thing that makes Velomax a winner for me are simple designs and above average durability. The hub quality is excellent. The manufacturing process is precisely controlled and I have never seen even a single, solitary defect.

Because of Velomax/Easton we stopped buying another very popular brand name high end wheel after we had repeated, frustrating durability issues with them and an absentee sales rep along with abyssmal warranty and customer service. We were formerly their largest account in Michigan on dollar volume.

Perhaps the greatest praise heaped upon Easton/Velomax was that the late Michael R. Rabe once said, “There isn’t anything to improve on these.” While that may be a superlative, I’ll argue I couldn’t want anything more in a wheel than a Circuit or Tempest II’s (I’m not talking about race-specific aero wheels here).

When you ditch all the bullshit that is slung about ridiculous and gadgety wheel designs and actually have to maintain the equipment and stand behind, Velomax are the absolute best in my opinion, and the second best is a long, long way behind.

Wow, now that’s praise. Especially nice since I just bought a Velomax wheelset. Never let it be said that the wisdom gained here on ST doesn’t help us suffering mopers choose product. Much better than amazon.com ratings, believe me.

I took a lot of guff when I bought my Ascents a few years back…they were certainly NOT the hot ticket at the time. But I had done a lot of research and felt they were the right wheel for me. Turns out I was right!

Got more than a few kudos about “proper wheel selection” in Kona last year…they performed as well as expected…better for a light weight, power challenged female of a certain age than all the fancy aero stuff out there.

Glad you concur, Tom.
