My eightyear old daughter did her first tri a week ago. T1 didn’t go as well as she had hoped. We helped her to tie her shoes but she said later that her old shoes with Velcro would have been much better.
I know it’s ugly with Velcro, but has there ever been triathlon running shoes with Velcro? Personally I’ve tried a couple of quicklace systems but never been really satisfied with any of them. Maybe it’s just impossible to sell running shoes with Velcro to anyone over six years old?
Elastic laces are the way to go. Put them in your shoes and adjust to your liking and be done with it. Super easy and I have them in all of my runners.
I loved these shoes. They broke down pretty quick and it was also my first ever pair of specific racing show. Had tons of drain holes all over the bottom and light as hell at the time. Good barefoot for a beginner too. Long time ago now.

I was hesitant at first - thought they’d look dumb and only be marginally more convenient - won’t ever be trying shoes again when outside work now.

I was hesitant, tried them out and now own pretty much every color. Love them for every shoe. I don’t even screw with laces anymore. Way more comfortable and can adjust as I want and like.
