I’m inspired to see paint jobs that surprise me and get the wow factor going, simply brings ridiculously stylish to a new level. Paint jobs on TT/Road bikes today are very good, yet change the paint scheme and suddenly your product gets a second look and you re mortgage your house…again. Triathletes also do a great job with funky paint scheme’s, I see some wicked bikes out there at some tri’s
If I saw a Trek 1000 with this paint jobs I may be tempted…although it would HAVE to include the Bora’s
Isn’t his bike and Jersey colored to reflect his recent national (Spain) championship? Instead of wearing a traditional National Champion’s jersey, he had his team kit modified to reflect the Spanish colors.
While you heart and soul are with out doubt in the right place…the the “cost” of the Bora’s I would get a nice set of Zipp 404’s - and this has nothing to do with the price.

The team modified the jersey/shorts/helmet, however the previous year(s) spanish national champion kit was much akin to the colors of the bike, with the full orange and yellow spread.
I would have liked to have seen the full kit match the bike…it would have been a europlosion.
Oh and zipp 404’s over Bora Ultra’s? I would rather sell all my personal possessions and sign my life away for the additional cost…on second thought I may just get a second job
My only issue with the Bora’s (yes I had a set) was that in the hand they were MUCH heavier than the 404’s. Sure they had the timeless Record hub’s and all, but when in my mind I take the weight, the price and the seemingly terrible wind tunel scores…and then look at the price again as compared to the other wheels on the market.

Spain´s colors are red and yellow not orange! And the bike is called Prince of Spain because the sponsor did not agree to change the colors on the jersey so all they could do was change the colors of the bike to reflect the national champion and Pinarellos was happy enough to help with that. Nice bike!
yes it did, but that is what they permitted, they wanted to keep the main image untouched, the stripes where on the underarm and sleeves and helmet only. (small one on the shorts also) http://espndeportes.espn.go.com/2003/photos2008/0705/g_caisedepargne_332x170.jpg
They look good I think. But I also enjoy the distinctive jerseys… politics as always… I don´t like politics
I totally agree; Bike manufacturers should consider offering bikes with more radical paint jobs. Would you pay a premium if the manufacturer offered paint schemes that were different from their standard models? And I’m not referring to the manufactures that offer custom dimensions/paint jobs.

I don’t understand. If you’re not talking about custom paint jobs, then what do you mean by “paint schemes that were different from their standard models?”
What I think was meant was a custom paint job on a stock model (ie: custom paint on a p3c) rather than the likes of guru who completely customize the bike (dimensions, paint, etc.).
If Cervelo offered a limited edition P3C with a paint scheme that mirrored the same paint scheme as the WC bike Cancellara will be riding during the tour, would you pay extra for that?
maybe, Nytro has had a replica of Norman´s blue (05 I think not sure) Kalibur forever and its now on sale… could it be cause of the bad luck it gave Norman??? but Cannondale ran out of their special edition 07 giro bike (Di Lucca) don´t know it the pink maddone is selling, but companies do that from time to time, I like the Chipotle paint! will buy a DA with that paint job if I had the green.
No, I wouldn’t, but don’t some companies already offer custom or special paint jobs on bikes without having to go to a custom builder? I guess you’re talking about bikes painted to match the paint riders get for specific acheivements instead of team paint schemes.
I know I’ve seen the T-mobile Giant bikes in pink and every company makes their “team” bike with the paint scheme that the guys ride in the Tour.

thats just wrong, boras win in every way except maybe weight, but why save a few grams to run the risk a the wheel falling apart.
I’m not sure if it was the sponsor’s decision, since they had the spanish TT champ on the team last year and he wore the full yellow and red kit for TTs. I think it’s partially the team mentality which is old school. When Manolo Saiz ran the team he never let the riders race in their national champs, because the national colours make the rider stand out and harder for them to hide in the pack. That’s likely why Valverde went with the subtle change to show his pride in being national champ, but to not overly stand out. Besides, a big reason for his win at nationals was that he had 10 teammates in the race riding for him. It’s all moot now, since he’s wearing yellow, and he won’t need to change the colours of his bike to match since it’s got the yellow in it.
