I am looking for a valve extender. The model I am looking for has the typical hollow plastic extender and also has a small metal shaft inside that can remotely turn the tube valve. I realize there are different types and options, but this is to replace one that was lost.
Do you have the cheap Zipp kind that just goes over the valve core? or do you have the kind that you remove the valve core, insert the valve extension and then put the valve core into that so that you have the valve itself available?
I have the kind that goes over the core without removing it. Then the metal piece can manipulate the original tube core from outside the rim and extender.
I have not seen plastic ones, but problem solvers makes a alloy extender with an alloy inner shaft to open and close the valve. I picked them up at my LBS. Sorry I can not help more but I have seen them.
I just purchased 3 of the good ones on Tri-Sports.com for 4.95 each versus 14.50 at the LBS. These are the good ones. Problem with the Zipp type is that the valve can close under the extension and you cannot get air into the tire. Especially bad if that happens to your spare on race day. This type has you take the core out of yours and install it int he extension. The whole process takes about 5 minutes. Assuming you are using a non-disk (909 cannot use an extender) these are in my mind the best option. http://tri-sports.com/devaex.html
Those deluxe extenders are good. But does anybody know if they are stackable? That is, can I stack different sizes? If not, they won’t work on my 808. If they aren’t stackable, what do people use on the 808?
Good question. My front is “on;y” 57mm deep, so I haven’t had that problem. Don;t see why it wouldn’t be stackable tho, as long as you use teflon tape on all the thread joints.
