Vaccination Proof Required: Esprit Tri in Montreal Quebec 10-12 Sep

I just read my athlete guide for tomorrow’s half IM (10 Sept Friday). As Quebec has implemented a vaccine passport the race (a non essential activity) is requiring proof of vaccine for those outside of Quebec, and Quebec vaccine passport for those who are Quebec based.

See you there…I almost forgot, but I guess I can bring up pdf that govt sent me on my phone from my gmail account.

Up to now the triathlons I did in Canada did not require vaccination (Muskoka and Gatineau Olympic), But up to now there were no vaccine passports for society in general

In Ontario the Vaccine Passport requirement starts Sept 22. I was just reading Ontario’s Plan and it does include Sporting Events… but it also states “These mandatory requirements would not apply to outdoor settings where the risk of transmission is lower”. So it looks like Triathlon events here won’t require proof of vaccination.

in switzerland we get a QR code on our phones as well as a paper passport if we want one. i think my code’s been scanned at one or two races so far this summer.

The Quebec rules include outdoor events, and specifically mentions events like marathons.

For Esprit, for non-quebec residents, it’s any proof of vaccination along with valid photo ID (what is unclear in their guide is whether it has to be printed, or whether on the phone is ok, previous articles I have seen suggested that it had to be printed, which is what they ask for at restaurants in quebec for non-residents), and then the quebec passport for residents. I’m printing mine out just in case.

While they will be checking passports, they won’t enforce it.
The government has given leniency until Sept 15th
