Using PCs in USCF races

Hi all,

Does anyone know if it is against USCF rules to use PCs during races? I’m just too lazy to take the damn things off and put them back on each week during the early season…

Thanks

I dont believe there is any rule against them. I just recently saw a photo from a local crit out here of a bike with PC’s on it leaning against the fence. I am assuming the guy was racing at some point.

On a related subject, a quick check of the new USA cycling rules revealed that all bikes must be UCI legal by 2007. That means no more softrides, Kestrel 500s or Km 40s, no more Lotus, hotta, Corima TT bikes, No more Reynolds Ouzo Aero or other non UCI forks. No more Scott Rakes, No more Rev-X, Hed 3 etc. in mass start events(TT’s are O.K.). None of this effects triathlon directly but manufacturers who market to both sports will probably start designing UCI compliant products and eliminate those that are not.

Wow, that just doesn’t seem safe…

I wouldn’t do it. I’ve had to hop up onto a curb during a race to keep from being wiped out…don’t believe I could have done it on PC’s. They’re fine for time trials, but, I wouldn’t dare use them in a criterium, probably not in a road race, either…never know when you are going to have to jump a fellow rider that goes down in front of you…you at least have a chance on regular cranks.
