USAT Congress Roll Call & Places to Train?

Just wondering who is attending any part of the USAT Congress in Colorado Springs. I’ll be there for the Race Director Certification Course. They also have a bunch of other things going on like the general race director conference or the coaching clinic.

I’m also wondering if it is warm enough to ride (hey, I’m from California) and if there are places to get in a few swims. I’ll probably be driving out from Los Angeles.

Cheers,

P.S. Sorry if this has been posted already…I didn’t find anythign in my initial searches.

Where are you staying?
It’s cold here right now and will be through Christmas with highs in the upper 20s. Last week it was 55-60F, so it just depends. There are a number of high school and YMCA indoor pools with open lap swimming. You might want to ask USAT if you can get access to the USOTC pool. Lots of great places to run, sun or snow : )

I’ll be staying with a friend who lives nearby. Woohoo! No hotel bills!

I was out at the Olympic Training Center a few months ago for a collegiate conference with USAT and one of the resident triathletes showed us some good running places, so I think I have those down.

Thanks,

Marcus,

I will be there as well and looking to swim …hopefully allot. This year at the conference they had a nice indoor
pool for training and it was packed almost every morning. I swam once and ended up running through the golf course
into the hills by Cheyenne Mountain every day.

I will be bringing my swim and running clothes and will ask the hotel what kind of swimming facilities they have and get back
to the forum.

I will be in attendance as well for the RD Cert. Course.

Contact Jamie with the Colorado Springs Swim Team. He is out coach and the first week is usually free for people visiting. We train Monday, Wednesday and Friday at Colorado College at 5:30 a.m. And Saturday at 6:30 a.m.

USAT is sending out email updates and they have mentioned some plans to swim at OTC. There are tons of places to run from the Congress location: Pikes Peak Greenway isn’t far, there is a golf course about half a mile away and a couple of miles due west is Broadmoor and tons of open space. My only worry is having time to work out, the schedule is packed!
USAT staff is responsive to questions, shoot an email but I think many are taking some holiday time off. See ya,
Alex

Like you Alex, my time is going to be early in the morning. From thursday to sunday I have until 8am after that, I may have
1 hour through each day to get something in. Our group meets all day into the evening hours. Tons of stuff to do and get done.

It will be tough to rally up and squeeze in as much as I can. Last meeting we ran the Broadmoor and that was nice especially
the hills south of the golf course. Being a flatlander…it was nice.

I saw the indoor pool on the website and I question myself whether to swim it. Looks like a 3 stroke, flip and 3 strokes back.
I like the Broadmoor outdoor/indoor swim. Not bad.

I guess I pack all my stuff, drag it through O’Hare and hope for something out in CS.

Thanks for the info!
