USAT and WTC

story on the front page.

For some reason, I can’t access the home page from work. Can you summarize?

sounds workable.

hope they get the devil’s in the details issues handled and announced quickly.

think those items could throw a wrench in the works?

They’ve apparently kissed and made up.

Interesting stuff.

So now that they reached an agreement, do we age up in all races or are we are age on raceday for WTC events still and age as of Dec 31 for WTC events?

What about the WTC race day insurance business? Does this mean participants don’t have to pay the WTC one day race insurance fee if he/she is a USAT member? What if one has already paid, would (will) it be refunded?

They’ve apparently kissed and made up.

Interesting stuff.
Or, USAT was brought to its knees by the realization that Ironman is more powerful than all of the other domestic triathlons put together.

Big news. I presume the age group thing stays the same?

Nothing like a little reconciliation to brighten up the day.

I assume that you will age up for all WTC races starting in June. IM-AZ age groups, for example, should be unaffected.

Nice to see that both sides seem to have come to their senses. It will be interesting to see what happens with the exact rules (stand down or not?)…

I was on the fence about renewing my USAT membership. I guess I’ll do it now.

Jeff

So Eagleman will be the first affected race? And what does this do to age group rules? I’d really like to race in the 20-24’s and not 25-29…

So wonder how WTC deals with the pre-paid one day license already paid for by entrants to races like Vineman and other 70.3 or IM races? Does this mean USAT license now needed?

Me too I was hoping id only get smoked at 1/2 of my races this year…

I’m the RD for Timberman 70.3…It’s great news!

However, on the registration front, it’s a NIGHTMARE. Still trying to figure out how to issue 1500 refunds, get athletes to sign a new waiver, and refund all of those who weren’t USAT members before, $1 (difference in USAT and GTG 1 day license). I’ll also need to get all USAT members’ #‘s and expiration dates. Lots o’ fun!!!

That said, I’m very happy about this. This is good news for our sport!!!

I am dissapointed. I was sick to death with the nitpicking rules from USAT. Dropped bottles, mounting lines, pacing to the finish by your 9 yr old son penlties. I was glad when WTC split. It made a lot of sense. I could care less about rankings. I have finished top 10 in the USAT rankings and there were probably dozens of people below me who could kick my ass. Head to head competition is the only way you can see how you stack up. That is why we have a national championship. Who gives a rats ass about rankings. The age up rule is just plain stupid. You are the age you are on race day. SIMPLE. Why complicate matters. It is just some other nitpick rule by USAT that applies only to worlds and their precious rankings system which are a bunch of crap anyway. Ugggggg…

aw…that’s easy Keith.

toss everything to date.

refund everyone’s money.

have cybersignup.net handle the repeat and new registrations.

how much easier could it get?

Hey Keith… let’s say you buy me lunch next week and Ill let you keep my GTG fee.

How much does lunch cost at Maudies? I’ll give it some consideration:)

Talked with Lin-Mark. This is not an easy fix, but we’ll sort it out. Just what I needed, another headache:)

I’m still happy about this. Just not happy about my “little” predicament…

Does someone have the link that explains the difference between how Age Group is determined currently by WTC/USAT?
