USADA testing numbers

Interesting stuff…there’s 1 guy on the list who got banned for doping and had 1 test ever by USADA (maybe more elsewhere?.. Edit: and I’m not talking about LA). Another guy is on the list with over 50 tests & also caught for doping. Hard to know how well the tests work & also for how long athletes doped. Also some stud athletes who have been in the sport for years only had 1 count. I would have guessed a few of them had been tested a lot more, but maybe not? Maybe these numbers are not accurate, & they were likely tested by other groups besides USADA?

Not sure what, if any, point you’re trying to make. I believe these are tests that USADA directly handled and they are apparently providing service to the tri community. A certain someone who has 1 reported test and is banned participated in a sport which has testing overseen by that sport’s governing. In the case of an adverse finding (that they felt compelled to address, but I digress), they turn the case over to the anti-doping agency of the license holder’s nation.

USADA testing numbers are for tests carried out by USADA. Foreign racers who get tested in the US will show up here while US racers who get tested in say Europe will not show up here.

One thing I am not sure of though is the case where USADA requests another organization to test somebody. Say, they ask the French federation to test somebody who is living in France during the racing season. I’m not sure if that test will show up in USADA’s numbers, the French numbers or both.

Retired racers who are in the testing pool will continue to get tested out of competition for a certain period of time. Maybe a year, I’m not sure exactly how long.

That’s weird. Amy was notified before the end of 2011 that she was ‘out’ of the pool, and notified of being back ‘in’ the pool in 1Q of 2012. Why doesn’t Moats show up? He was tested in January, right? It was actually 2011, now that I think of it, but he’s not in there either. Are OOC tests not in there?

USADA hasn’t updated their numbers to reflect the 4th quarter of the year. I was tested at nationals in September and still haven’t received my results yet. My team mates got tested at track nationals in August and last I asked about it hadn’t received their results yet either. Maybe USADA has been busy with other stuff… :slight_smile:

Not sure if I read this correctly…but I wasn’t referring to Lance in my original post. My point in the post was simply to show information about how many times athletes have been tested by USADA, since I know a lot of people are curious about how much testing actually goes on. Also, interesting to compare things like ITU athletes vs. other.

I have no idea how accurate the list is. I do know it hasn’t been updated in a while (I think it said since June, 2012). Also, there are other organizations testing athletes as well. Would be interesting to see lists like this from WTC or other non-US groups.

i thought that too. it could also be his schedule; he raced A LOT of short course races these last two years. many times there are only 10 to 15 pros there (that may be an over-estimate). AND, he won a lot of them. so if they were gonna test anyone, it was gonna be him.

or it is a witch hunt. you know, a vendetta against Potts. could happen. i wish they’d leave him alone. he’s never tested positive in 80+ tests.

Apparently USADA does, because there are a couple dozen amateurs listed in the OP. Just none for 2012.

Looking at their site there is nothing at all reported for Q3 or Q4 2012, so there are a bunch of pro tests missing from the list posted earlier as well.
