The new American suits had become a topic of conversation among rival teams at the Adler Arena’s morning practice session Thursday. Overhearing a conversation about the U.S. skins on his way to the rink, a Dutch coach shouted with a chuckle, “Are you talking about the suits? They’re slower!”
Yes they are quite slow and I can’t believe the poor fit and amount of wrinkles in them. Not to mention how stupid and uninspired the design is. Who did they hire? Ed Hardy?

Well, I don’t know if you know, but iirc they hired Lockheed Martin
If they have 300 hr of wind-tunnel testing then maybe they’d share some data? I’m not asking for all of it but publish some and let those of us who care to look chew on the data for a bit and draw our own conclusions.
OK, I understand they probably aren’t inclined to share data but c’mon those things look slow and so far…well the results sort of speak to it.
i can’t imagine what lockheed martin could bring to that partnership. wind tunnel testing? that’s not a skill that’s difficult to find, you don’t need an aerospace or defense contractor for that and, in fact, i would think ultra low speed engineers and tunnel technicians (i.e., cycling experts) would be better able to handle that task. so, what do you do? put a slide board in the tunnel with a skater atop, testing different suits at 30mph? i guess so. what does lockheed bring to that?
nothing against lockheed, they’re my neighbors out here at the compound. i just don’t get the connection. unless shani davis is planning to take out his competition with a drone strike.

I think they look like they could be a Spider-Man villan.
I can’t believe he was allowed to race with that drag inducing beard. Or maybe it behaves like dimples on a Zipp?
I remember back in teh day hearing how much aero work went into the cycle jersey’s of he who can’t be named. Maybe those guys would be better than Lockheed?
The US uber suit seems to have been as successful as the US uber bike from was it the Atlanta Olympics?
As an American I can say “who gives a rip?”. The Dutch have it down. I love the way the Dutch get behind their skaters… and I would love to wear orange and hang out with all those crazies at the rink and after at The House of Orange…now that is a sporting experience…
My less than technical wife even commented on how poor the fit around the neck was. I agree that Lockheed brings little to the team aside from notoriety.
Skating to the Dutch is like cyclocross to the Belgians, I don’t think it is the suits that are winning the medals. They are plenty fast and plenty deep with talent this year and have their whole country behind them. Only being half Dutch makes me a bit bias. Mr. Davis’s suit looks like a bad fit on top.
