To think that the US govt once put Martha Stewart in prison for (gasp!) insider trading. Ah, that was such a quaint time in history.
If Martha was jailed for it, Pelosi should be in supermax awaiting her last meal!
(And a whole lot of other people, such as mentioned in your OP).

Nope. Somehow, and it is a complete mystery, when Congress wrote the laws on insider trading based on information they got in the course of their jobs, that is not considered insider trading.
Congress has diligently worked to try to find a solution to this for years. But no one ever could have imagined how complicated it is and the solution still eludes them.
But this isn’t insider trading. This is blatant conflict of interest. And no matter who does it, it is wrong. Fortunately every president before the latest had at least a smidgen of shame and would not lower themselves, or allow their underlings, to do infomercials from work.
