Under Saddle Water bottle mount (using Fizik ICS)

So I have been looking for a good way to mount a bottle cage under my saddle horizontally.
I first tried just using zip ties, but it didn’t work (not very stable) because I am fairly far forward on the post and the way the rails run on my Fizik Antares.
I had an old behind the saddle mount, but that’s a bit heavy, awkward to mount, and really intended for putting two cages up high.

I found an old Elite Ciussi style cage laying around and while tinkering with it found that the top end is a fairly snug fit in the ICS opening.
Idea: use it as a mount for my Tacx Tao bottle cage - these are awesome, never launched a bottle!

Two dremel cuts and a few zip ties later, it was converted into a cage mount in just the right spot and it doesn’t move at all.

Mount with Cage:

In the ICS:

And all zip-tied down:

Figured I’d share some pictures - cheap and sturdy solution that weighs in at 30 Grams including zip ties (70 Grams if you include the Tacx Tao cage).

Nice work. I can’t get a cage vertical on my felt either because I’m so far forward but I might have to try that because I think for my IMs next year I’ll bring 2 nutrition bottles, seat tube and behind seat. Looks real good.

Seriously. This works. I’ve tried a ton of different things, but this is still the easiest option. $6 on ebay. More secure than Zip ties.

Awesome - Thanks! Perfect for one of my kids to get me for xmas.

x2 on the bracket…This is what I have on my bike it is awesome…it is quite heavy though. Zipties is definitely the lighter way to do it, but I feel like this is the most secure way. Ill see if I can upload a picture later when I get home. I Put an xlab carbon gorilla cage on the minuora bracket and have only ejected it once after going through a construction zone at 33mph

@Hounddog: Yeah, I looked at the Minoura mount too, but deemed it to heavy (it’s made of steel)… Didn’t see it for $6 on ebay, more like $13 if you include shipping, whereas the old cage came from my parts bin…

It’s sitting my my spare parts bin. It’s unstable and the screws are difficult to adjust. Worst of all, it launches bottles.
