Anyway, I found out a few weeks ago that I couldn’t go over 2 hours in my Asics gel Magic barefoot, but the inside stitching on the Asics slashes were blistering me. (Luckily I’d thought to bring a pair of deFeet socks. I’d done HIM and up to 2 hours with them–no problem. I figured I’d have to with socks or get blisters, since I didn’t want to try to toughen and risk blisters at IMAZ, and the shoes are not sized for socks. I’d tried a couple and they were just a little too thick. the Wright ultrathinks were OK, but tended to bunch right over the second metatarsophalangeal joint (the bump on the top of your foot in front of the ankle)–UGH!
I was at the expo and the Ultimax/Wigwam guy let me try a pair of the Velocity socks (IM version, of course). I said ‘How much?’ ‘You can have that pair for free.’
Anway, I used them the next day for a run. So far, so good. I tried them at the race and THEY WERE GREAT!!! I felt barefooted, but no blisters. I forgot about them, until after the race when I had to take them off.
