I’m currently riding a Scott Plasma 2 ( the one where you need to cut the seat post with a saw) 2011 edition i believe.
It equipped with Shimano 6700 components.
Can any one tell i I can “just” upgrade to di2? I’m thinking cable routing especially is that different with di2 or will it just fit with the existing routing?
How much will I need to upgrade?
Im thinking; new bar end shifters, new brake levers with shift buttons, cabling and all the electronics ofcourse (rd fd junctionbox battery etc)
I think a few of the online shops sell ‘upgrade kits’ where you basically buy just electronic bits (derailleurs wires shifters etc.) So that would be an easy way to go…whether or not it’s a DIY job, I guess that depends on your level of wrenching ability. I’ve never worked on Di2 so maybe some one who has could chime in on how hard it is vs. setting up a cabled bike.
Buying a kit online and then bringing it to a LBS might be poor form though, so I think only get it online if you can do the install (or at least most of it.)
It is not difficult
Are you going to do 10 or 11 speed?
With 10 you can use your brakes, crank, chain, cassette
You will need;
Shifters
brake/shifter
5 port junction box
Wire to internal box
Wire to RD
Wire to FD
Wire to battery
Battery/mount or internal battery
I did a road bike upgrade (Cervelo Soloist Carbon) from 6700 to Ultegra Di2 last spring. It was a relatively easy project once I got all of the right parts. One note of caution, however, is that I did have to drill out a few frame holes in order to get the Di2 wire ends through to do internal wiring. The Di2 ends are a bit larger than the cable ferrules themselves, so definitely larger than the actual cable…once the Di2 ends were through the frame holes everything went fine.
As someone else mentioned, you’ll be able to keep the brakes, BB, and cassette. My LBS recommended that I use the Ultegra cranks since it was beefed up specifically to work with the Di2 front der (or so they claimed), but I don’t know how important that actually is. The Di2 set I bought came with a new Ultegra crank so it wasn’t a big deal to me to use it.

You can go to shimano and see parts and wiring
Will also need internal junction box (I think this was implied), as well as battery charger (this is a separate part number from battery).
Agree that it is not difficult to install, and if you DIY, then you know where all the pieces are, so any diagnostics later on are easy as well.
