How can one say that Ulrich chances of winning the Tour got better when he finished 10th in the first hard Mountain stage of the Swiss Tour AND got his yellow jersey taken from him. There are NO big names in this race yet he got smacked by Rogers, Horner and others. I know it is not July and form can improve but Come on!

Like Lance, Ullrich isn’t going to redline himself for a race which means nothing to him - my bet is he was never much above threshold at any given time today.
But, hey, who cares? The real news is that Horner just earned himself a spot on the Tour team after being out for most of the year with a broken hip. That’s impressive. He could do some damage, and could easily finish Top 10.

Horner will not be Top 10, he has a job to do and he wont be racing for GC at all. He will be suffering for Lance. Setting pace and letting Lance suck his wheel, then taking it easy the rest of the stage after he is cooked. It is how bike racing works
