Ullrich's TT Bike

So far I have only been able to find really crappy photos of Jan Ullrich on his bike in the Tour of Germany time trial, none of which is clear enough to show whether he is on a Walser or a genuine Giant TT frame.

Can anyone verify? Got better pictures?

The only clue I can see that it might not be a Giant is the old Litespeed style “reverse airfoil” head tube cone.

Actually, if you look back at the pictures this year, Giant’s new TT frame has that useless bit of metal on their headtubes now. It’s also readily apparent that Jan is on a compact frame in that picture, which nails it as the new Giant TT frame that I believe is only being used by the pros at the moment. Now it’ll be interesting to see if that’s the same frame he’ll be riding in the Tour.

BTW, does anyone know which helmet company T-Mobile is sponsored by? The Aero helmet that Ullrich is wearing is the best looking/most aero design we have seen so far since the head fairings are no longer permitted.

helmet company is Limar. there was quite a bit of crap to be seen on the riders heads yesterday at the ITT of the tour of germany. :)) if you’d seen the limars helmet closer… klödens head looked monsterous! like a big-headed-mars-alien

The pro cycling team Once-Eroski used the same time trial frame T-Mobile uses now, last year in the Tour de France onwards. I wonder too if Jan will use the same frame at the Tour. I like Giant bikes, but they don’t have enough sizes only S, M, L, and XL. Anyone can be fit to a bike by channging out stems, cranks, adjusting seat height etc…, but how is the bike going to handle?

actually I don’t have a clue, what this piece of metal is used for, but on tv they said, that ulle is the only one in the team riding not a full-carbon frame, and this piece has something to do with his bjorn-like aerobar-style (meaning hardcore negativ stem)

I can’t wait to get my hands on one of these if they ever go public.

I wanted a Walser, but don’t want to spend a down-payment on a bike.

try this view, if we didnt know better you would think his aerobars had slipped down when he ran over a bump

Wow, thanks for the pic. I think that offers ample evidence that Jan ain’t fat. His bike, however, is phat!

For some more angles on his bike, check out this video on his TT machine, with some good close-ups on those radically angled bars.

Go to this link and click on “Etappe 1” under “Film Auswählen.” Then in the top right box, choose “ISDN” or “DSL.”

A few random observations…

It’s pink. Eeewwwwwww! Bad mojo.

It’s an ugly helmet.

Is his front wheel on backwards?

Well, at least his shoe covers match.

He’s using Shimano.

Doesn’t look like anything new from Rudy Project yet.

Is he falling off his aerobars?

I don’t think that is the stock Giant fork.

There’s a lightweight disc. Guess he still likes it.

Is that guy in the background checking out his butt?

Looks like the seatpost may actually be deeper than the seattube.

Ulrich will never be as goodlooking as I.

That’s funny. Fashion tips coming from a triathlete!
