David Millar was busted for doping.
Ullrich Armstrong +35" Basso +1’15" who cares
Rasmussen will be caught be both Basso and Armstrong and will help pull up the cones on his way back in. Porbably will miss dinner too.
Lance wins the TT.
Ullrich blitzes the course as well…climbs over Basso by precious seconds on GC
Lance and Ullrich gap the field by MINUTES
Basso does well, maintains podium, certainly
Rassmussen drops at least 2 places on GC
Levi climbs over Mancebo
Landis can’t bring Cadel back
Speaking of Cadel…he’ll ride out of his mind and maintain his current ranking
Vino has an average day…maintains current pace…
Hincapie beats Julich, but not by enough to trade GC places.
How about Lance crashing, losing 2’45’’ on Basso, and Ullrich beating Basso by 3’10’’ for the TT…meaning
Sunday, Basso, Lance and Jan all have to get into the final sprint!!!
Osama Bin Laden jumps from the French crowd screaming “JIHAAD!” as he *lances *Lance off the his carbon fiber steed near the 3/4 point in the TT using a burning U.S. flag on a silver mast. Lance is Ahead by 2:30 at this time, and his lead in the TT is rapidly dimishing as he has fallen and is now mano e mano with the worlds most wanted terrorist. Lance dispatched Bin Laden with a single blow to Bin Ladens super tall and thin midsection with the standard to the fencing allong the race course. Lance, with out skipping a beat, is now the recpient of the multi million dollar reward for Bin Ladens head - but he also maintains his lead in the TdF by a shrunken margin and still wins the TT by a mere 2 seconds…
David Millar was busted for doping.
No way! get outta town! when did that happen?
It happened a while ago.
prior to the 2004 tour, IIRC
.
should have put the overt sarcasm button on…
(DC Pattie’s post that you responded to was a joke in ref to AJHull’s prediction that Tyler is going to finish 3rd in tomorrow’s TT. Oh, never mind…)
Lance will win
Jan will be less than 20" down and will steal 2nd GC from basso
Rassmussen will lose the podium, if not top 5
George will finish the stage in the top 4, top 15 GC
Julich will be top 7 in the stage
BAsso will go deep, but it won’t be enough to salvage 2nd
.
No way Lance loses in the TT: LA Ullrich, 1:28 down Basso, 2:24 down
Rasmussen loses 5 minutes and the podium; Basso holds second, Jan 3rd.
Whatever happens, it will be great fun to watch. Supposed to be warm, so Jan could have a very good day but I understand the stage is somewhat hilly—one thing I’ve noticed is that Jan doesn’t seem to like to get out of the saddle much. It might be my imagination but in comparison to other riders, he seems to like to push that huge gear sitting down, which would seem to hurt him on a profile like tomorrow’s, where maintaining that top end speed will require more than a few turns of the pedal while standing.
I still prefer my Bin Laden theory.
LOL…I did like that one. Hey, you never know!
- Lance
- Jan at ~3:00
- Basso at ~0:30
I’m with you on this one
Lance by 30 seconds over Ulrich
.
“Other than TT specialist Dave Z, Lance spanked the field in the opening ITT. And that was with pulling out of his pedal too (or else he mighta beaten DZ too)”
Some differences to factor in - The course isn 55km not 19km and it’s more hilly. In the first TT besides the small foot out of the pedal problem Dave had a tail wind advantage. That’s a huge advantage and can be as much as 10km/hr more in speed. And yet both Dave and Lance had a minute to the next placed. If Lance had the tail wind also the time gap he got could easily have doubled.
If Lance replicates that effort the gap could be significant. Who thinks Lance is less motivated or less ready than in the first ITT?
In the end I think that we all as Type A folks have to admit that we know what Lance will do…he will do what we would do. That is - die before he does not prove he is worth his salt. I think that even if Bin Laden was to jump out, that would not stop Lance. He will win that TT by a LARGE margin. He will put all of his heart and soul into it as to vindicate his victory with at least one stage win…and he knows it will have to be a big one. Though all the US cares about is that yellow at the end of the day - Lance knows that a stage is important to the legacy.
You’re dreaming. Lance blew him away in the last time trial by passing him. This will not even be close. Lance has his number and everyone else’s. Lance by at least 90 seconds, probably much more. And if you think Jan was “saving” himself, you must have missed the ease by which Lance has been riding and “saving” himself. Considering this is Lance’s last “competitive” ride in his professional Bike career, I think he’s going to send a message here and it won’t be charity.

Absolutely! Another half day or so and you’ll be proved right.
That makes total sense!
