UCI compliance? When does it matter?

With the recent leak (and removal) of the new Felt Tri bike, the SC14 and Shiv tri it got me thinking about my next bike. I plan on shifting a bit into the road racing and tt circuit at some point when my feet are done with racing. At what level do I need to worry about a UCI legal bike? Obviously not at most local TTs and I would assume most of the local stage races don’t check unless you are spanking the field. But really where would it matter for you average Joe rider?

states is probably the first stop for most riders that they’ll check.

Dunno, you might run into somebody picky before then, just never know.

On a bike like the Shiv (or new Felt) you may have more scrutiny, just because the average(ish) person can look at it and tell it isn’t UCI legal.

I don’t think you’ll find a race below the national championships that enforce UCI rules/regs/ridiculousness
.

NEVER is the answer until Pat f$cks off and take Hienie with him…

Then after a number of years and some action to regain credibility it may start to matter…

Oh and any UCI registered event you choose to enter…

At any event run under the UCI regulations and at which you choose not to break the rules, else be a filthy dirty cheating bastard.

Wouldn’t it be great if someone, somewhere would collect all the requirements and regulations into a single source so everyone competing would have access to them and could familiarize themselves from an authoritative source. Oh well, we can only dream. http://www.usacycling.org/usa-cycling-rule-book.htm 1I1(e)
