TYR Socket Rocket 2.0 goggles

Recently picked up a pair of these on a whim (needed to add like $5 to an order to get free shipping). I wasn’t expecting much for the price, but was pleasently surprised. They are absolutely fantastic for me. No leaks, comfortable, no circles and make me look like a real swimmer. The gaskets are very low profile but also functional.

I had been using TYR Velocity (pool) or an Aqua Sphere Seal Mask (OW or comfort pool). The Velocity are good, but give me pretty wicked circles around my eyes if I swim for an extended time in them. The Seal Mask is excellent & comfortable, but just always felt like a goof using them in the pool.

Anyway, if anyone’s looking to rid themselves of the circles, don’t hesitate to give the Socket Rocket 2.0s a try. Although they look uncomfortable and tiny, they actually work very well. Well worth the ~$5 to try them.

On something like my 10th pair of these. The metallized ones are even cooler but cost 15 bucks or something stupid. Cheaper goggles are the best goggles generally, you don’t see many Olympic swimmers wearing goggles that cost even 10 bucks…

I’m curious - are these at all different from standard Swedes, or just rebranded?

Couldn’t tell ya. These do have a low-profile gasket (basically a thin latex film), though, and it was my understanding that the Swedes don’t have any sort of gasket. I could be wrong, however, since I’ve never really looked at a pair of Swedes in person.

Have a softer (rubber?) surface where they touch your face so a bit cushier than swedes. This coating must weigh a few milligrams if that matters to you

Basically a swede with a low profile gasket.

The socket rockets are, IMO, the best goggles out there. I have stocked up about 10 pairs (a massive investment of about C$70, incl taxes) in different colours, just in case they ever decide to discontinue them.

To those who asked, they are a little different from the swedes, they are not entirely hard plastic, so they are a little more comfy on the soft tissue around your eye, but they still seal just as well with hardly any strap pressure.

I was a Socket Rocket wearer and loved them because they were just like the swedish goggles, but the entire thing was made of softer rubber. The SR 2.0’s are the harder plastic but have the ever so slight foam covering to provide a better fit on your face(reduce leaking) and be more comfortable. You can’t beat them for the price. Been telling everyone one that for years now but they still wear the big bulky goggles or the masks. I’ve been wearing them as long as I can remember, pool and open water and never had any issues.
