I saw that Tyler Farrar finished 3:13 down in the prologue of Paris-Nice so I went to the Sipstream sute to figure out why.
Well, turns out he crashed and the team posted a video of the crash, which is pretty rough. He’s OK, but it is amazing the speeds they were running with the rain and wind.
Oh my. I’ve just wet myself. Huge. Poor man. Never corner on your aerobars in sketchy conditions…
Unless of course you’re in a ProTour level prologue and have a chance at the leader’s jersey with a good ride as Farrar did at Tour of CA and Tour of the Bahamas…
You should see Thor rounding the corners from that race, or the one with Pate from Watson’s photo journal where Pate is sliding the rear Sub9 disc wheel around a corner in the aerobars like he’s wearing body armor on a YZ250…
Yeah, I watched the 2 hours of coverage on vs yesterday and you could really see who could corner and who couldn’t. Some of them could turn well, even in the aerobars, and some of them were slowing way down, sitting up and still skittering round like 4 year olds. The quick boys were mighty impressive.
no, I know you weren’t I was also mentioning some of the more unconventional things that adorn his DA. He played around with a Mantis/Levi position too last year, he’s not afraid to try new positions.
His racing reminds me of Cancellara with his size, and his ability to pound out huge watts for endless pulls. He’ll be a real asset to Magnus headed toward Roubaix this spring. Watching him win that Tour of MO stage last year in the way Fabian did at the Tour was demonstrative of his talent, but he’s more than willing to suffer for the team’s greater good.
Anyhow wrt his set up, he’s just up the road from the CO wind tunnel, I’m sure he’s spent time there.
