TX Hill Country Swim Clubs

Okay, so I spent the holidays in Kerrville and got to experience fantastic bike rides in both Kerr and Gillespie Counties. I fell in love with the terrain and now wonder if there are any good swim clubs (for masters as well as high-school level) in the area. I believe there are a few good ones in San Antonio but that would be quite a trek from the Hill Country.

I don’t have any swim info, but there is a great ride in Kerrville on Easter weekend every year. Friday - Sunday.

This may be a long shot but PM fiddlesandbikes…he has a friend who runs a rec center in Kerrville and might know of a club or maybe a contact…If I am not mistaken they run a swim program out of there IIRC.

Riding in the hill country is amazing. We camp and ride out of the Lost Maples area around Leaky. Good stuff.

The Missus -Tex says that there is a Kerrville Swim Team that is for age groupers. We could not find the contact info on the Stswim.org website, but you might be able to hunt around and find it. There are also teams in Dripping Springs, Austin, and San Antonio (probably even western SA), but those are probably a bit of a drive from Kerrville.

An outside shot is to email Jamie or Andrea at Texas Iron as they do a training camp out in Kerrville a couple of times a year, so they might have pool contact info.

ATX, we all know that you need help of all types. Contact me if it’s tri related!

Thanks -Tex…can you do something about the voices in my head?

There is a swim facility that quite a few triathletes use, and I know they were looking for a coach a little while back. They have some awesome facilities. You can find them here: www.familysportscenter.com They are also adjacent to the Guadalupe River, if you want some open water workouts.
