Tubeless Wheel Care

Riding Hed Jet Black. This is my first tubeless.

Took the bike in for a routine check-up and the LBS said they should be sealed every year and fully removed and reattached every two years.

Is this what everyone does?

What do you carry in terms of spares with your first tubeless

Do you run Vittoria air inserts or their like?

Sealed? Removed and reattached? I have no idea what you’re referring to. However, I just ride enough that I go through a few pairs of tires every year which takes care of most of that.

Naming convention is slightly weird, but in general these could the absolute longest you can ride.

Your sealant will dry-out within 3-6 months, and based on my experience it’s usually 3, not 6.

What do you do then? You can top-up sealant through the valve core, without unsealing the beads of the tires. This will eventually also dry out.

At certain point there will be too much dried sealant inside, so that the sealing properties diminish and weight increases.

It never happens to me, as I’d first need to change my tires due to mileage.

Significantly shorter service intervals in both cases would be advised for the vast majority of people.
