I don’t have a bathtub in my bathroom, just a shower.
So, for an ice bath, I’m hoping I can find some sort of large tub I can have in the backyard and actually sit down in, to be filled using the hose and adding some ice.
Anyone know if such a product exists?
Biggest storage container/bin I’ve seen is not quite big enough to sit in (39 gallon capacity)
Plastic garbage can is an option, but requires standing, so not what I’m looking for.
An old fashioned bathtub would work but not cheap, beeyotch to transport.
Yeah - the kiddie pool sounds like the answer. But one question - WHY? I’ve seen others do this, but I’m not sure why. What’s the advantage? Should I be doing it? I know a guy did an ice bath between races at the TTT this year using a tall plastic trash bin.
in a nutshell, it’s about recovery - minimize inflamation, muscle waste product removal etc…
search “ice bath” for some discussions here or runnersworld and the like, maybe google for deeper science.
kiddie pools sure look awfully spreadout to me, I suspect lotsa water and ice required, and tough to lean back against the side without a blowout.
maybe the kiddie pool tech has advanced lately, i’ll poke around.
Why do you need to sit in it? The amount of time you will be in it (if it’s cold enough to do it’s job) standing won’t be an issue. A popular budget solution here is to buy a new one of these,
Look around some more: I swear they have 80 or even 100-200 gallon bins out there. They have huge ones at Wal Mart: Plenty big to sit in: I saw a photo of Dean Karnazes (sp?) using one.
I was thinking the exact same thing as Julian on this. Just fill it with water and add ice when you need to. A large garbage can from Walmart can not cost that much and really, do you need anything more than that.
It was good enough for Dame Kelly Holmes at the Olympics! A number us have them in the garage at home, so long as you run the hose over your legsbefor hopping in each time it stays clean for a couple of months at a time too.
I use a garbage can all the time, the water comes up to your quads and if you sit on the edge you can get almost all of your legs covered. 15 minutes does wonders.
Tractor Supply Company I think it is for watering livestock. 75 bucks for a hundred gallon I am thinking about getting the 300 gallon model for my fastlane
go to a feed store - I bought a 50 gallon feed bin that I use a little pool for my dogs. They hop in and out of it when its hot. Its big enough for a human adult to sit in.

Not sure if this is what you have in mind
I was being sarcastic I would love to get a fastlane but I don’t have a pool and don’t want to sink 20 grand for an endless pool. I wonder what if there is a livestock tank that I could put a fastlane into?
