TT.org: your posts aren't showing up

Just your quotes of the topic you are replying to…

I’m also often a victim of this effect. My workaround: switching to basic editor - posting the message - editing it in advanced editor.

What I usually do to avoid this is rather than click the “Quote” link I use the “Reply” link and then manually cut and past the part that I want to quote into my reply. That seems to work too.

this happens to me so often that I just leave it. I mean, after writing a response - nothing posts … I just do not feel like writing it again. Also, when replying to posts, about 1/2 the time the reply page loads all distorted and I cannot reply, so I reply to the quote but that gets cut as well.

frustration leads me to post less and less on this board …

“I mean, after writing a response - nothing posts … I just do not feel like writing it again.”

I hear you. I’ve gotten to the point now that, as soon as I write a post, I highlight the whole thing and hit cntr+C to copy it before I hit the “Post Reply” button. That way, if it get’s nuked, I can just paste it back in again instead of retyping the whole thing.

The “Quote” link only seems to work when reply to/quoting short posts. A fail-safe approach is to highlight the text you want to quote, right click and copy. Then hit “Reply”. At the top of the reply text box are little quote symbols. Click on those, put the cursor in the gap created, right click and paste your copied quote. Then move the cursor down into the text box, *to the lowest line it will go to, *and type away.

If your typing cursor is one line too high, your post will disappear. There is a little “no-man’s-land” in the text box below the quoted excerpt. If you type in there, you lose your post.

I use the quote feature quite often. What I do is always preview my post before actually posting it. Then you can see if it will actually show up. What you have written will still be present, so if the preview shows that your reply won’t appear, there is still time move it or copy it, or whatever you need to do to make it show up.

What bugs me is that the editor seems to be set up to ignore leading whitespace when using the quote feature, at least when placing your response above the solid line. No matter how many paragraph breaks you use, all the text is squeezed together.
