TT helmets: LG Rocket vs LG Rocket Air

I am in the market for a new TT helmet. Are there any differences between the LG Rocket and the LG Rocket Air?

I see that the Air has larger vents. Does this make the Air slower?
The Air is the newer model, does it have any advatages or should I go for the LG Rocket when I only want speed?

I can’t give you a comparison, but I bought the regular version from nashbar for 80.00 on one of their frequent sales promos and I can tell you that there is no shortage of ventilation. I also find it to be extremely comfortable and easy to get on, especially compared to the Giro Advantage II (although every head shape is different). I don’t see any compelling reason why you shouldn’t save some cash and buy the regular version.

I was curious if the retension system is the same between the helmets.

Also, if you had the Rocket Air, you could just tape over the vents and it would be nearly the same at the previous version if you felt it was slower for some reason.

Heck…I tape over the vents (what little there are) on a regular Rocket

When I had my LG Crono I never felt any air going through those little vents.

My newer helmet, LAS Crono, doesn’t have any vents to tape over

Vents!?! We don’t need no Stinking Vents!!!

And the internal is the same? Or is it updated?
I will probably tape over the vents in my journey to get a lower drag than Tom A.

I ordered the Rocket Air. When I want to use those vents during hot and long TTs they must be big, otherwise I will have an excuse during the ride and that’s not good.

I heard from LG the the Air is actually faster the the non vented version. The theory was that the vents in front are channeled through the helmet.

Other than that the helmets are the same.

Shell size is slightly different between the two. I had a medium rocket and it fit me perfectly. Later, I got a medium rocket air and I couldn’t even get it on my head because the shell was too small. I went to large in the rocket air, the shell fit my head but the overall helmet is too big. There was too much space between my ears and the ear covers so I don’t think it was very aero. Make sure you try both on, they’re not the exact same shell.
