Hello there,
I am looking for a TT bike and since I have a Specy Venge Disc as road/aeroad bike, and I like the idea of interchanging wheels between the two for example when racing sprint or olympic distance, I was thinking to choose a TT disc bike. Besides, it will also be useful on longer races with technical courses - and next 70.3 will be at Zell Am See in August.
I like these bikes:
S-works Shiv Disc
BMC Timemachine Disc 1
Cervelo P5 Disc
Considering I won’t be using it for Time Trial bike races but just for 70.3 and maybe for a full ironman, what would you choose and why?
I like the BMC considering it is also cheaper than the other two, but do not know anyone who has got it and if the geometry is ok for me and my objectives.
Also, would you consider other brands/models? (available in Europe)
I am a Speedmax fan as far as the look is concerned, but it does not come with disc, and the Plasma the same.
I was recently in the market for a new disc TT bike, and was considering the BMC as well as the Cervelo. As I already had a good pair of wheels, I went with a custom-built Cervelo with a 1x AXS groupset.
In the end all bikes have advantages and flaws, just pick the one you prefer for your budget.
The new 2020 Plasma will come with discs but I think there is no release date announced yet. Quintana Roo and Felt are also brands you could consider in Europe.
Since you want to drop big bucks. Willier has the Turbine.
Also, remember there are 140mm and 160 mm rotors. My road bike uses 160 and my TT bike takes 140, so I can’t run the same wheels without swapping the rotors out.
Here in Europe the Quintana Roo is hard to find, and therefore I guess also to obtain service.
I also sincerely do not know them so much, I see the model in the price range of the Felt is the PR5, but still prefer how the IA look like.
As for the Wilier and Pinarello, I really would not spend more than about 6k € for the bike, I know…this also means the Shiv and the P5 are too expensive too. The BMC is around 7k€ as far as I see but still have to receive the formal proposal from the LBS.
At the moment, if the price will be around 5k€ I would go for the FELT IA Disc.

Where are you located? You should see the QR for real. It is one awesome bike. The Felt will be really hard to get in EU, sold out at Felt and will not come back in stock as far as we know now. Which i can understand due the very specific paint job which is a you hate or you love it.

That’s idiotic. You could just switch the spacer and run the same rotor setup on both bikes.
indeed. the bike world (like the guitar world) can seriously fuck off with the whole “you gotta take it in to a shop” to get anything done mentality. These are just mechanical systems. Get the right tools. Educate yourself. Rip’em apart. Rebuild it. It’s fine. If you fuck it up, then take it into a shop.
I learn something everyday…but no one shares how fucking simple bike assembly is until you bring up your ignorance. …and us Oral Surgeons don’t like to admit what we don’t know.

Argon has a disc TT bike now. This article is saying it’s $8499 with Jet Black wheels/DI2.
Hello TRIPRO sorry for late reply. I am in Italy.
And you were right. The IA DISC is sold out here, I guess I will have to wait for 2021 model.
Too bad since I really liked the bike and the GEO color frame.
The geometry on the BMC is relatively flexible, the Cervelo is also good but as people have mentioned on here before swapping to the EX10 front end is pretty helpful as it gives you more room for changing things compared with the stock front end. Felt is also fine, we’ve had all three in aero sessions and they’re all plenty fast.
I’ve got the 2019 IA2 Disc and love it. The 54cm geometry pretty much nailed my fit coordinates and a day in the wind tunnel with desert dude got me a sub .200 CdA using Enve 7.8s.
I was also looking at the Cervelo P5 disc and QR PR6 disc but I just got a better deal on the IA.
