I have a new set of TRX that I want to use in my basement studio - the ceiling height is 8 feet so plenty of room - I have surfed for over an hour trying to find a suitable wire eye lag device that I want-- Ideally it will be have a 4 inch thread to go into beam and a triangular shape to hold the anchor strap. Does anyone know of such a device or where I may find one? I can find plenty of eye types but nothing triangular… Thanks
Depending on your room, I took a length of chain and threaded it through a hole horizontally in a joist probably 4-5 inches from the edge. Worked great, as I used a small bolt to secure the chain. I’m not very confident of something anchored vertically into a ceiling.
The best solution I’ve found is actually TRX’s X mount - simple, effective and works perfectly in my basement (same height as yours).

+1 for xmount. U can do it cheaper but for $20 it’s the easy solution. I have it and it’s bomber in similar setup as yours.
x2 on the x-mount. It works really well and it super sturdy. With 4 lag bolts, there’s no way to rip it out of the stud without removing the entire ceiling/wall (depending how you mount it).
I bought an anchor at lowes for $10 - I blogged about it a couple of years ago.

.
Thanks to everyone for your great ideas - I am a tad reluctant to spend $40 on the TRX anchor kit (yep meanie) but love the Lowes solution- thanks again and I really appreaciate your suggestions.
I used a hook designed for a punchbag for about a quarter the price of the x mount.
I used an eye bolt to go thru the beam and then a carabiner to hold the straps. Works great and makes it easy to take down too if I wanted it to be portable.
Thanks again everyone - the $9 anchor from Home Depot works a treat - finding the beams in a finished basement was fun - but two sessions into it - now have some great DOMS going.

Hey, I have a pair of Ikea Ekorre mounts that came with my son’s hanging swing. I’m not using them because I put up a swivel instead.
I’m sure they’ll hold as the swing is rated at 154lbs.
You’re more than welcome to them, just paypal me a couple bucks for shipping.
Thanks Alex for you kind offer - but we only need on TRX system hanger and that is in operation now— thanks again.
No worries, that’s what I get for reading from the top down!
There is a comparison of the TRX mounting options here that’s worth checking out.
They are all much of a muchness.Just ensure that you screw everything in tightly and you should be right.
Tks – wow this is from 2014 and was wondering how this popped up for you. I bout a $10 D ring from Home Depot and it works great. Thanks for the link though. Graham
That or one of these into a joist, on center with carbiner:
3/8" x 4-1/2" Zinc Lag Screw Eye.
I also use them into wall studs for hooking up tension bands. I use the bands for stabilizing or loading joints during rehab lifts or moves. Works great for isolating certain small muscles that are hard to activate with a free joint.
