A reporter from the Atlantic cold calls Trump, who not only answers but (despite knowing and clearly hating the reporter) gives a 20 minute interview in which he lies (coz Trump) and makes some insane claims (again, Trump) including that he now runs the world, to save the world.
News, perhaps, to much of the world.

And besides there is a difference between been seen as a leader and claiming you run something.
The leader of the free world should lead a free country so Trump is out.
Maybe the leader of the world’s Kingdoms.
That kind of implies that the president leads the way. Lead from the front type of thing. Trump seems to feel it means he gets to be dictator of the free world and make unreasonable demands of other countries.
Most of the free world is telling him to go F himself.
The US is still the most influential country in the world with the biggest economy and military, but you are no longer that bright light on the hill top, nor do other western nations look to you as a guiding north star or reliable/trustworthy ally.
