Trump and the NFL

I bet a lot of people wish he’d bought the team…

“the jury felt most of the USFL’s problems were self-inflicted.“

“ jurors said Trump “came off as arrogant and unlikeable” in court.”

“He then turned down the chance to buy the Dallas Cowboys for $50m in 1984 and bought the Generals instead for $9m.”

So much winning.

The only difference we’d see if he bought the Cowboys is they’d be wearing fake gold on their uniforms instead of silver.

I don’t see DJ hiring Jimmy Johnson either, so there go all the SB wins since 1980.

Well, that and they would be bankrupt. Because… trump. They’re worth $12.8B now, but trump would have found a way to bankrupt them.

Coach Tommy Tuberville.

That would amuse me

Tommy actually was one of Jimmy’s grad assistants in 86-88 at Miami!

The book referenced in the article is Football for a Buck, written by a friend of mine.

Trump didn’t really care about a merger. He wanted HIS team picked up by the NFL, and knew that pushing the USFL to the fall would likely cause most of the teams to fold. The entire time he didn’t care about the league, he was in it for…wait for it…himself.

What a surprise! /p
