I have a Shiv Disc Tri that came with these TRD HD-T910 TT brake levers, and I HAVE to find a new solution. They are super uncomfortable to rest my hands on and downright dangerous in hot weather because my hands become so slippery on the hard surface.
Has anyone replaced these brake levers with something else? Am I able to just straight up replace these with ultegra handles or do I have to replace the brake calipers/rotors also? I’d love to just replace the brake levers with the ultegras and have normal wrapped bars. My bike is di2/hydraulic to be clear.
Thanks!
There is no ultegra direct swap. The only shimano di2 hydraulic shifters are dura ace (r9180).
A few choices:
Shimano r9180 with your current TRP calipers MIGHT work. The hoses (shimano vs trp) are slightly different sizes, but I remember reading people have some success mix-and-matching.
Shimano r9180 with r9270/r9170/r8170/r8070 (di2 with hydraulic disc calipers) ← probably most straightforward option
Shimano r9160/r8060 with TRP spyre mechanical disc calipers ← cheapest option to retain di2 compatibility
Sram ← may be cheapest option if hydraulic is a must, though obviously no di2 (i.e., shifting) on them
