Tririg Alpha X, worth buying it in 2019? (together with Delta Universal Cover)

I have an old Cannondale Slice from 2014 (2010 model), and I want to upgrade it with the universal cover (tririg delta) with a new aerobar.

I know, Tririg Alpha One is “The One”, but Alpha X is on sale, almost 400 USD diference (Alpha X, below 700 USD with Gamma extensions).

I assume Alpha One is simpler to adjust, I guess lighter… but, worth buying the Alpha X, spend the money in the Tririg Delta (and use the rest of the money upgrading the shifter up 11 speeds)???

The Alpha X at current price is a great deal. And it’s an awesome bar.
I am not 100% sure the alpha one is lighter.

Yes, the Alpha X is an incredible value.

I went through a similar conundrum, although I have no interest in the Delta. I did add front and rear Omega X brakes and an Alpha X cockpit. It looks great on the Slice and looks slippery as well.

Share some pics when you are done. I’m curious to see how the Delta cover looks and integrates.

Interesting you have the Delta on the back. My mechanic said that didn’t work on that frame when my friend had her Slice (same model year, I believe) rebuilt, and reitterated same when I had my Slice upgraded (2015 frame) but in my case I knew he was incorrect (my rear is bb mounted).

Three points to share for the OP.

  1. My friend was convinced her rebuild (alpha x, di2) was not faster. The opposite, I believe. I wish she was active here and would have posted on that. At any rate, those parts have since been moved to a Ventum.

  2. I recently went with Alpha 1 on my 2015 Slice rebuild, which was not smooth at all. The bike is faster, but the challenges were many and may be food for thought for other would-be Slice upgraders. I can’t get hyperlinks added via mobile device, but here’s the link to my write up (https://shitsuesays.blogspot.com/...ke-modification.html).

  3. FYI there’s a separate Slice thread here some where, Let’s See Your Slice (https://forum.slowtwitch.com/forum/Slowtwitch_Forums_C1/Triathlon_Forum_F1/Let’s_See_Your_Slice!_P3561067/?search_string=slice#p3561067). Not sure if there’d be any use for the OP to take a look for that.

Thank you very much all for your answer.

I will think about all the info.

I will post when I finished the upgrade!

The rear brake fits without issue, but you do have to experiment with the various spacers that TriRig includes with the brake. At first I didn’t think it fit either, but then experimented a bit with all the various parts included after I saw that the frame is listed as compatible on TriRig’s site. Read through your writeup on your upgrade… yikes! I have an earlier frame than yours, but I had zero issues once I figured out how I wanted to route everything. It also helped that I added a top tube bento box where I hid the etap blipbox. Certainly a worthy option to consider for other slice upgraders.
