Triple T Calif. refund?

Did any of the other 12 people signed up for this race get their refund from HFP yet. My wife and I have not gotten one, and I sent HFP 2 e-mails about it but they have not responded.

HFP are notorious for not responding to emails right away. Keep sending them, they’ll reply eventually…not to make excuses, but they are a small operation. You’ll get your refund.

Funny to read this as I was contemplating posting the same question last nite. I’ve emailed them at least 4 times over the past 2 months and received a reply (after 2-3 days) each time from a different “customer service” individual promising basically that the check is in the mail. No way to contact a specific individual in their system and no way to call them.
Each reply thanks me for my patience. I’ve lost all patience with them and suspect this is money I will never see returned. Very disappointing to say the least. I recognize they are busy with races, but this is very poor customer service.

They have not responded to my e-mails at all.

I haven’t emailed them lately; probably was 3 weeks ago. It did take about 3 days or so to get a response. Lack of any response to your more recent ones doesn’t sound too good for hopes of our refunds coming. Bummer is I would like to sign up for another late summer race, but being out the fee from this one it’s not likely I can swing it. Worse for you given two registration fees unrefunded.
Only other thing I’ve considered doing is trying to get it back via my credit card company, however since the registration was via Active.com I doubt that’s possible.

So is the race cancelled?

First off, I am not condoning the alleged behavior or their failure to refund, but you are talking about a company that has been putting on quality events in the midwest for years, and pretty much put on an event every weekend from mid-April until the end of September (take a look at their event calendar http://www.hfpracing.com/events/2009). So you are cathcing them at the worst time. Like calling a CPA on March 28th and expecting to hear anything before April 15th. Again, not condoning what they have allegedly done, but these guys have been around a long time for a reason and I don’t doubt at all that you’ll get your refund.

I’ve contacted them in the past, and they always got back to me. It was never done quickly, but they did reply.

No refund for me yet. I e-mailed them today.

i agree, they put on quality races. have done Racine twice and thoroughly enjoyed it. one of the best run races i have done. and to their credit, they did offer entry into the Ohio race when they cancelled California.
i also recognize this is a busy time for them with races to manage most of the summer weekends. however, they cancelled this race in early April due to fact that only 14 people registered. refund was promised in 30-45 days. they only needed to process 14 checks to make this happen.
i have no problem with it taking 2-3 days to get email back to an inquiry. but, what is the most frustrating is there is just no way to consistently contact the same person. so you get a different story each time regarding when the checks will be sent. difficult to have any confidence when the stories are so inconsistent.

Also I’m disappointed because I took a chance on signing up for a new race. I was also signed up for the HFP Halifax 101 that was cancelled. For those of us that took a chance on signing up for a new race, they should cut the 14 checks and send them to us. I can’t really figure out what the problem would be here.

It has now been 4-weeks and 3 e-mails and I have not received a response. I’ve been a loyal customer of HFP - this is getting ridiculous.

i’ve been away for past week, but haven’t heard response to email sent a week ago to them.
anyone else hear anything? receive any checks in the mail?

I got my refund check last week on Monday after complaining some more. We did not get my wife’s refund yet, however. It is a fantastic company that puts on fantastic races, so it’s a shame that they are not doing such a great job at what should be an easy refunding of our money.

I also got my refund check last week. You have to be persistent.

I have not gotten my refund check either.

It is not like contacting a CPA a month before tax day.

I received the notice of the race cancellation on April 13 and was told I would have a refund in 30-45 days. By my calculation, that was no later than the end of May.

Last I checked, we are headed towards the middle of July.

You missed my point. The CPA reference was due to the fact that since they sent out those notices they have put on 9 triathlons in 12 or 13 weeks. Including the equivalent of an IM, the Triple T. I also said it doesn’t excuse them, just saying that they are at their busiest point in the season.

My wife and I are still waiting as well despite getting an email from them on May 11 that stated they were processing our refund, which was a month after they initially announced that refunds would arrive within 30 - 45 days.

Still waiting…

You will probably get an IOU from the state because of the bailout.
