TriGeniX

Anybody use thier supplements, etc? It’s pretty expensive stuff, to the tune of over $100/month for vitamin supplementation! I spoke with the founder last night at the Salt Lake Marathon expo, and he was pretty convincing…especially about the inadequacy of multivitamin pills that cost $20 for 6 months. I already thought that there was probably absorption issues preventing the entire pill from being absorbed, but his claims were that there was hardly any absorption at all. It makes sense to me…just not sure if it’s worth the cash…

My SO and i have used them; two one-month courses. I can’t honestly say that they’ve made an noticable difference. But, we chose to use them during months of hard training, and perhaps we wouldn’t have recovered, etc., as well had we not taken them. No way to tell, really.

They are spendy, but we got them free from the TriGeniX booth at the expo in Kona. While there, we spoke with Mark Allen who assured us that they really had made a difference for him, and that prior to trying them, he had determined that he would not endorse any nutritional products. He gave them a try, they seemed to work, and he signed on.

We still have a one-month supply, and will use them at some point. Don’t know if we’re willing to shell out our own $$ for them, however.

I tried to talk the dude last night into giving me a free month trial version, but no go…I’m just really hung up on the $ outlay for this, but it does seem to be good stuff and better health and recovery would definitely be worth it.

I guess we got lucky, getting them free, we were at the booth on the last day of the Expo, and I suppose they didn’t want to ship the stuff home with them.

I agree on the $$, which is our hesitation. Everything we do in this sport is spendy, and there is just so much to go around, it seems. Besides, I’m still trying to talk the SO into my getting a P3 Carbon. I’m sure it’ll be just the thing to make me oh so much faster. ;^)

I know…I just spent some serious cash on a new bike and race wheels (Javelin Arcole w/ Zipp 606 wheelset and a PT Pro hub…sweet, but EXPENSIVE!). I just don’t know if I can justify another $190/month, PLUS race fees, PLUS new running shoes every 6 weeks, PLUS tires, and so on…

ALthough, I guess you do work to play, though, right?

I used the full formula for about 6 months… the one thing that I really liked was the XTrainer- little bottles of an herbal supplement+protein ( 10g) that you take during exercise or races. honestly, they really helped me through my long rides. otherwise, not sure I would fork out the $$ for the vitamins… don’t mean to bash anyone, just that I am not sure they made a difference over my normal bottle of centrums…

Why did you use micronutrient supplementation?

Not sure what you mean…

are you asking me?

it sounded like a good idea, and i still think it was. I liked the idea of boosting my anti-oxidant intake, with a program that was designed for endurance athletes.

the herbal TrainerX bottles, as I stated, were the one product with which I felt tangible and noticeable difference. a boost in energy ( not like caffeine, etc), I felt more recovered after those workouts, and for my transition run if I took those every hour during the bike. probably the protein- who knows. just my .02 as a former user…

Why it’s necessary to boost your antioxidant intake? You don’t eat fruits and vegetables? There is not a relationship between antioxidant intake and performance. Higher antioxidant intake decreases the adaptative response to endurance training.

So in those full page magazine adds that show Mark Allen with a bunch of medals and trigenix, are we to believe this product got him through all of those accomplishments?

Nope - TriGeniX is way younger than any of those medals…they’re probably just showing that he endorses it, and that he’s won all those Kona’s.

A peanut butter sandwich and a vivarin will work just as well.

Dave,

Welcome to Salt Lake City. I am also an Oregon transplant. Moved here about 4 years ago from Beaverton, now living in Draper.

I’ve been using the Trigenex products for about 45 days now during a period of very high volume training. I feel good and am recovering well. How much of this I can attribute to their product I don’t know. I met Cully ( Trigenex founder) on the plane going over to Kona last October and I agree that he talks a good game. My free sample runs out in a few days, so I guess I may find out soon if it has made a difference for me. I agree the price of the product is a bit of a reach.
