Tries - Corsa Speed G2 Vs. Gp5000

Talk to me about which is better!

I think the conventional wisdom is the Corsa Speed G2 is faster correct? But is the 2 watts of rolling resistance savings worth it for the reduced protection??

I have a pair of each and I am debating what to run in my upcoming 70.3.
I will be running clincher with Latex tubes.

I’ve done four 70.3’s on Corsa Speed G2 with baby powdered latex tubes with zero flats.

I feel I’m taking an unnecessary risk when GP5k’s are just so fast and good (heck, I train on GP5k’s with a long of gravel tossed in!), so I’m debating switching for StG …

the nomenclature of the various tire models can be confusing. The really fast Vittoria is the corsa speed g2.0. The tire in the test is the Corsa G 2.0, which is has heavier tread, I believe. There is also a Corsa Control. Use the comparison tool on the website for confirmation.

You are correct, I had the wrong Corsa in there.

So the Corsa is faster, but at what cost? Is it worth it for the reduced puncture protection?

Completely anecdotal but I wrecked a Corsa speed tire earlier this year when I locked up my rear wheel in heavy braking. It was only locked up for a couple of seconds but that was enough to burn a hole through it and it blew out.

Really fast tire but very fragile. “worth it” is in the eye of the beholder.

To finish first, you must first finish. Unless you’re in my AG, then use the crazy fragile tires.

Corsa Speed are a joy to ride, but significantly more fragile than other tires. I would only recommend if you can verify the roads are pretty good.

You did it again. You are referring to the Corsa Speed, not the Corsa. They are two different tires.
