Trico ironcase - rental cars, what does it fit in?

Does anyone know what cars the Trico Ironcase bike case fits into? Past experiences? Chevy aveo is cheapest but I can’t find measurements. I know the box’s measurements are47x30.5x10.5

Please help if you can! I need to know before I book a car for my race. Thanks!

I rented a Ford Focus, and it would not fit into the trunk with the back seats folded down. But it did fit in the back seats.

If you rent any four door compact, it should easily fit into the back seat.

As a disclaimer - I originally booked an Audi A3 Sportback for Frankfurt.

But ended up with a Mercedes A1 thanks to the kind people of Europcar…

The case fitted in the back with seats down and 3 other large bags.

If it fits in an A1 - it’ll go anywhere.

I almost always get an “intermediate” car… don’t need full size or SUV. The case usually fits in the trunk with the back seats folded down, or occasionally, I have had to shove the case across the back seats.

Mind you, it is usually just me and someones one other person travelling. No other people who would need to sit in the back seat.

I rented PT Cruiser from Alamo and it fit in the back perfect.

we generally put two trico ironcases in the back seat of a compact car. we have a 2000 mazda protege at home and have put two cases in the back a few times just to go to the airport. last trip (vineman full), we rented a Hyandai compact. i have forgotten the model, but it wasn’t very fancy - no cruise-control and the windows were manual wind-ups, haven’t seen those for a while. anyway, two cases fit in the Hyundai with a bit of care.

  • leave the back seats up,
  • slide the front seats forward a bit although they don’t have to be all the way forward
  • put the cases in upside down so the little rubber feet don’t catch on anything
  • slide the first case across the seats and then forward into the footwell, then slide the second case across the seats behind the first
  • its easier with one person pushing and one pulling from the opposite side of the car

Perfect thank you everyone! Got the same deal on a mid-size as a compact so playing it safe but thanks!

PT Cruisers are a little weird, but they are GREAT for bike cases!

just posted this in another thread, but it fits in the trunk of a chevy monte carlo, which I believe is a “full size” at hertz.

Fit into the Dodge Caliber I rented last year. Hoping it fits into the Ford Fusion I got this year. Guess I’ll find out soon.
