I am hoping someone can help me. I am packing now and preparing to shipp my bike tomorrow and the trico seem like an overflowing taco when trying to pack it??? I am trying to load my P2 with HED Jet9s in and it looks like an impossibility to close the case without crushing the frame. Am I doing something wrong? I didn’t remove Rear Derailluer- is that an absolute? Bars removed, Seat tube pulled out, not sure what else I can do, but as it stands there is no way I can ship this thing tomorrow- PLEASE HELP!
I remove the rear derailleur. It always looks like it won’t close, but once you get one of the metal clip things ‘locked’ on one end, just push down on top of the other end and ‘lock’ the other one. Then tighten the straps.
Maybe try and ask for a hand from someone - always helps. Good luck.

Yes its a good insurance policy to remove the RD.
Then put the foam over top and one wheel next to the other …put a towel between to stop chaffing.
I have to actually stand on top of the case to get the foam to compress enough to hook up all the straps and tighten them. I make sure to stand on the edges, though, so I don’t squash my bike.
Remove the rear D. Don’t be afraid to push everything together. 3 layers of foam will compress down allowing you to lock it. There are videos online that show you how to pack.
thanks to all 3 of you- I am having trouble with the cables, they’re not long enough to allow it the bars to go that far. thanks!
pull the cables right out then reinstall them when you you get to the destination.
have you pulled straps loose and then remove deraliuer and skewers.I had the guy at the airport repack mine so I know its possible ::))
.
You don’t need to put your bars that way. If you pad appropriately you can ay them against the bike frame.
Ok, seriously, thank to all! I read responses, thought about it, drank a few whiskey/waters and went back to work on the case. She fits!! Dérailleur removed, headset put back together and bars removed from stem. Balled up and compressed the padding and it was solid. So happy I didn’t break down and pay my LBS to pack it for me. Thanks to you guys I’m a man again.
One other tip that was given to me (I have a 61 Trek and Cervelo SLC-SL) is that once you put everything in, put the lid on and attach all the straps, albeit loosely. Once all the straps are on, start to slowly tighten the straps (one at a time) in smaller increments and that should do it.
Again, thanks to all. Bike made it to/from Miami with NO issues. UPS was awesome, and being able to track it all the way was nice. Thanks to everyone, I really was sure there was no way it was going to close, but I am glad I was wrong.
+1 - sort of.
I lay on it while my wife clips all the latches!
