In Santa Monica you can try Tri Zombies on Santa Monica Blvd. Scott, who works there, is pretty nice and always helpful.
There’s also a place called Triathlon Lab in the south bay but I never get down there so I can’t tell you too much about it.

Depends where you’ll be…
As noted above, there’s Tri Zombies in Santa Monica, there’s also a second, smaller, branch in Manhattan Beach. Triathlon Lab has nearly all the major tri brands and is pretty cool. Helens has various locations and lots of bikes, not a tri specialist. Lots of other bike shops around.
There are running stores all over the place. Frontrunners in Brentwood, Village Runner in the South Bay, Road Runner Sports has various large stores.
LA is pretty big, you might want to specify where you’ll be.
i think i will be between LA downtown and long Beach. in the middle, near to waltdisney.
i dont know if that is a good place to stay.
somebody can recommend a nice area to stay (my idea is go shopping tri stuff, running, outlet factories, nike,)
thanks in Advanced
Unfortunately, the best triathlon shop in LA is 2500 miles away in NYC. Other than that, you can try Tri-Zone, but really nothing good at all here.
Ok you have just covered about 50 miles and 2 hours in the car here.
The best pure trishop will be tri lab in Redondo Beach. They have A LOT of Bikes, A Lot of Wetsuits, A LOT of clothes and some running shoes.
Tri Zombies in Santa Monica and Manhattan beach have VERY limited selection.
Tri Zone in Los Alamitos (close to Long Beach) is pretty good, but it is setup more for MailOrder and they have no bikes or running Shoes. Just Tri clothing, Wetsuits, and accessories.
For Outlet shopping you can checkout Ontario Mills in Ontario. They have Nike, Puma, Addidas, Hugo Boss (MY favorite) Kenneth Cole, Polo, etc.
Should should hit a regular Nike store in either Beverly Hills or Triagle Square in Costa Mesa.

The Niketown in Triangle Square has been closed for a long time now.

I assumed you meant Walt Disney studios and not Disneyland? Walt Disney Studios is not close to downtown or Long Beach. Disneyland is not close to downtown or Long Beach. Walt Disney Studios is close to Bicycle Johns which is an average triathlon/bike shop. Niketown is not close to any of them. Tri-Zone is close to Long Beach. Triathlon Lab is not close to anything. Outlet malls are really far away.
Nice area to stay depends on your budget. The Four Seasons in Beverly Hills is very nice.
You will need a car and you could do Niketown/Triathlon Lab/Tri-Zone in one day. Running stores are a different story, Snail’s Pace in Pasadena and Road Runner Sports in Anaheim near Disneyland are two good ones.
Like previous posters have said, you’re covering a lot of ground there. Between ‘downtown’ LA and Long Beach, there’s really nothing I would consider ‘nice’. If you’ve ever heard of Dr. Dre, Snoop Dog, etc., they all grew up in the area between LA and Long Beach. I can’t really even think of any hotels in that area other than the casinos along the 710 - world class poker though, if that’s your thing.
If you go east or west of this area though, there are some options. If you go east (this would be nearer to walt disney) there is anaheim/buena park - tons of restaurants, disneyland, knott’s berry farm, the angels, and all the touristy accoutrements you’d expect to go with them. If you go west, manhattan and redondo beaches offer cooler weather and, well, the beach.
Like others have said, tri store pickings are slim - tri-zone has always treated me well, though their on-hand seleciton is limited. Triathlon lab is about the same. I’ve not been to Tri zombies in santa monica. I’ve had good experiences at runner’s high in long beach, and there’s a bike shop next door to it that I have no experience with. Outlet shopping is mostly out in the desert.
Really, the only thing to take away is that you’ll need a car.
Definitely Triathlon Lab, as has been mentioned. Super people. The guy who owns & started TriLab - Lloyd - was one of the guys who started TriathlonZombies, but he left to start his own shop. I met a bunch of the guys from there at a FIST workshop. Very cool. They really have some great ideas for how to bring triathlon to the LA area in a big way.
the question wasn’t, “in what city within the U.S. YOU think the best tri shop is?” trying to be clever by being sarcastic doesn’t answer the actual question.
