As the Race Director of the Terre Haute Triathlon (thtriathlon.com) we are looking at offering prize money just for USAT registered Triathlon Clubs. The total prize amount would add up to $1,000 (500 for 1st, 250 2nd, 150 3rd and 100 for 4th). Since this is something total new from scratch for us, I’m curious if the FAQ I came up for this seems complete and logical enough.
For 2007 the Terre Haute Triathlon will offer USAT Registered Triathlon Clubs a shot at winning a cash prize for the top 4 finishing teams.
How is it scored?
The top 4 male and top 3 female members of each teams place will be scored cross country style. All of the overall finishing positions will be added together for those 7 finishers. The lowest score wins first place. For example the top 4 males on a given team finish 4th, 7th, 11th, and 15th overall among the men. The top 3 females on the team finish 3rd, 9th, and 15th overall among the women. The total score in this hypothetical case would be:
(4 + 7 + 11 + 15 + 3 + 9 + 15) = 64. If 64 is the lowest score for all teams they would win first place. The 4 lowest scoring teams win the prize money.
Who is elgible?
Any finisher who is a member of a USAT registered triathlon club is elgible. The individual must clearly mark their club membership on their registration form as it is submitted either online, or in mailed in print. Each member must be on the triathlon clubs membership roster by May 1st 2007. Membership rosters of each team must be submitted to the race director via postal mail or email by May 5th 2007.
What if we have more than 4 males and 3 females competing for the club?
Only the top 4 males and top 3 females are considered in the score. They do not need to be identified as scoring members of the team in advance. Who ever is registered for the club and finishes in their top respective places is considered as scoring.
What if the team has less then 4 male finishers or 3 female finishers?
A minimum of 4 males per team and 3 female members per team must finish the event. If either the 4 males or 3 females requirments are note met, the team is not elgible for the awards.
What are the prizes and how will they be distributed?
First place, $500
Second place, $250
Third place, $150
Forth place, $100
A check will be presented at the end of the awards cermony to the winning triathlon club members made out to the club itself.
