Tri Training in Fort Worth, TX

I am looking for any information/advice on bike routes and master swim teams in the Fort Worth area. I am traveling for work. I was in the Fort Worth, Sundance Square area, a couple weeks ago and I utilized Trinity Trails which were really great and the local YMCA. However if anyone has any advice for a good masters swim team or better riding routes for 3 hour rides, it would be appreciated. I did some research for the local shops and I have an email out to a couple places but I am trying to gather as much information as possible.

I won’t have a car when I am there (but I will have my bike) and I will be in Sundance Square area.

Thanks

From that area there isn’t much quality riding in a three hour route. You have to get out into the suburbs/rural hills to get a good ride in. I usually follow the trinity out to benbrook YMCA and then head into the state park (1$ entry). Sorry this isn’t much help. But of leaving from there don’t expect a huge quantity of hills of anything.

Chuck Barr has a reputable Masters program that direction but in/around Sundance there’s not much at all. I echo what Zach says ride to Benbrook is your best bet. DFW Tri Club is relatively new maybe check out what they have going on

X2 with chuck burr. Google him and you will find his webpage as he is a swim instructor and very nice guy. They swim at Lockheed Martin in the summers…50m pool and it isn’t too far from where you are…trinity runs right by it.

Great. Thanks for the info.

The 2 swim groups mentioned do no have drop in for their masters program. I have been trying to figure something out for the summer and as of right now Lockhead Martin is for members only or guests of members. There is another 50m outdoor pool that just opened up for the summer as well, Forest Park, need to find out when they have lap swim. As for routes / rides, I live out on the west side of Ft Worth next to the military base. There are some good routes out to the west, there is a shop ride that leaves FW Cycling on Camp Bouie and Cheery Ln on Tuesday and Thursday mornings around 6am. Normally goes for about 1h30m, with a solid 1 hour of hard riding. FWTri Club started up in November and has about 100 members and has weekend group workouts, let me know when you are in town and I can let you know what is going on. Check out my strava link below and you can see some of the typical routes that I ride around here. Let me know when you are in town and if I am in town maybe we can meet up for a workout or two.
