I’m wondering if anyone has a suggestion for a tri top. I’ve been into tri for a year now and have dropped ~30ish lbs, but there’s still more weight to come. As that’s happening though I still need to find something to wear. All of the tri tops that I’ve tried/seen so far only serve to emphasize the size of my love handles (ok, they’re more like safety nets, but I’m working on it). I’m fairly normal-ish looking through the rest of my body, but as with many guys losing weight, the midsection is the last place to see the results. So, anyone have any suggestions on what they’ve used / see used / are selling for this purpose?
Thanks,
Tony
one last thing…do you think we could add the word “tri” to the spell check?
Why do you care if a bunch of other sweaty dudes see your handles? Get whatever is tight enough to not flap in the wind and not chafe your nips to bleeding. F*** any haters.
I suggest a tri suit. I dig the Desoto Forza. The down arrow has a slimming effect. No muffin top from a separate top/bottom. Sizes run small, but a good garment.

Maybe he’s not gay and cares what the hot tri babes think of his stretch mark laden muffin top.

There are lot of triathletes competing that have love-handles.
No big deal.
For some of our larger brethren, a lot seem to be wearing tri-suits, as I think they tend to hold everything in a little more and there are no muffin-tops over the shorts.
If you want to wear 2-piece (shorts and tank), than I have found the following brands to be…
**Zoot **- most forgiving.
Seems the material they use is a little thicker (don’t read this a like wearing full wool. More like Nike Cool-Max vs. pure spandex). Just a little more forgiving and not as clingy. Plus, it seems that the cut of the tanks is a little bigger in the gut area. This allows for a tighter fit across the chest but allows for a better fit in the mid-section. One negative is that with the thicker material, if you do the swim without a wetsuit, than it can feel like the material is weighing you down.
**Tyr **and Louis Garneau - Best overall if you are fairly normal
Material is a little thinner, closer to spandex and the cut is fairly normal. Not too big, not to small, just right.
Louis Garneau are making some longer tri-shorts with a “gripper” at the bottom of each leg
**Craft **- Don’t know much about them. Hear good things, but they have a reputation of being expensive.
**2XU **- Least forgiving
If you are built like a heroin addict, these suits will work great for you, otherwise, I tend to steer clear.
The material is very stretchy and they are cut tight. This means that the material is clinging to every fat roll and the material is thin enough to show it all off.
Plus, the shorts are cut (IMO) very weird and tight and they give me a camel-toe.
In all reality, go out there in what you want and be confident in yourself.
Nobody is looking at you, as they are all worried about how they look in their spandex.
No self-respecting guy wears spandex in the general public and everybody is a little self conscious and are more concerned with what others are thinking of them than what they are thinking of someone else.
I agree with the OP who suggested Zoot tops. The Zoot tops are the only brand I have come across making loose fitting tops. The size large tops will fit most size XL people. I have afew left going cheap…they are brand new but from a few seasons ago :

x2 on the tri suit. I’m 6’, 213 lbs, ~18% bf and working on dropping the left over belly fat. Love my Zoot one piece tri suit. My buddies call it a women’s bathing suit…but wtf, we all live in a world of shaved legs, chamois cream, and timing our bowel movements to not interrupt our morning training, so fug 'em.
I have the Craft tri suit and love it. I consider myself a large rider, (no Adonnis like body here) I am 6’2 210 and the Craft tri suit fits great and doesn’t make me look more of a fat ass that I already am. Great pad too! I have been using my old tri suit from them for 3 years in the pool and it is still holding up.
