For those of you that race in an ITU style one-piece. How do you go about storing gels/nutrition on your person during the race?
stuff it into my chest are or just keep it in my fists
.
I stuff them into the legs. It’s easy to put the used wrappers back in and then dump them at the water stations in a single motion.
Bento box on the bike (as well as stuffing other food items in the chest) and race belt with gel holders for the run.
Thanks for the responses.
The suits are tight enough that they’ll hold things in place–gels, inhaler, etc.
No pockets required.
My race belts has places to carry gels, which is my preference anyway. However, my suit this year will probably have pockets. I’ve use a the speedbox on my Trek SC7 for holding gels for long course races. My one A race however is wesuit legal. Pockets are also on you back, so in Open water, I don’t think it makes much difference. In a pool swim they will slow you down a little I think off the walls.
One in each leg and one in the top right just under my collarbone.
For HIM bike section I’ll have 4 taped to the bike so I’ll have more than enough for that.
If it’s a long run I have a belt that will carry gels.
Sometimes at Halfs I will have a sandwich bag with 3 or 4 gells in it. I grab it, put one in each leg, one at my collarbone and eat the fourth one.
Wrappers always go in the top near my collarbone and I’ll dump them at aid stations.
