Tri Shorts (9)

Any fellow athletes out there who prefer two piece suits? Looking for recommendations for tri shorts.

My go to have been Huub, first the Dave Scott range and then the anemoi. Seems like they are no longer available so shopping around.

Suggestions greatly appreciated!

Mainly for long distance racing, so must be suitable for that.

I have only ever raced in 2 piece attire. I love the 2XU shorts or the Nike Tri shorts I find the pads in those two brands the most comfortable. Tops are a little more scatter shot I prefer the Castelli Core tops, Zoot would be my second favorite but I find almost all tri tops useable for most distances.

Desoto. I’ve done all my Ironmans in some version of their shorts. Very comfortable on the bike and you don’t notice them on the run. https://www.desotosport.com/collections/mens-shorts-bibs/products/riviera-tri-short-with-7mm-clasico-integrated-pad

Cobb tri shorts are my go to. Training and racing(when I wear a two piece). Huub tri shorts are fine for me too, I use their trisuits for long course.

I’d have the 2XU compression shorts in a heartbeat but seems like they are discontinued. Would also try the Desoto, but seems their European operation is shut down?

Seems like the Castelli only do the shorts with a kiss pad, which is normally pretty poor in the bibs.

Will check out Cobb!

Not sure what’s going on with Huub, seems the anemoi is suit only now and the DS range is no longer available.

DeSoto shorts are the best. I prefer the Carrera model over the low rise versions.

How do the different pad thicknesses work out? Seems some of the range are 4mm and some are 7mm?

I’m used to Huub and they are thin!

Is the Nike short a rebadged product from another supplier? Or do they make their own?

Have you considered Zoot? Their tri shorts have various lengths to the leg and they refresh their designs often. They ship out of Oceanside, CA and are fast to get the orders out. Might be worth looking into!

Not sure if they make them or if they outsource the manufacturing, I have a few pairs of TYR and they are very similar in appearance and quality.

Desoto strictly for racing
I really like the Forza compression fabric Then depending on course- the 7mm pad for the IM bike Otherwise the 4mm pad or the fleece pad for 70.3 or shorter and IM run
I had one pair of Forza’s that after 10 years had to bite the dust. Granted the last 3 they were worn under something as they were thin but
any of their shorts are the best bar none.
My training shorts for the most part are a mix of whatever is on sale but for key workouts/long rides/run-
Desoto only- never chafe anywhere, never ride up. And I prefer the Forza compression-- TIGHT at first but it is awesome
Thanks Emilio and company for a great line of products

I’ve worn the Desoto shorts for a while and they are pretty decent. But, I just recently tried a pair of Zoot shorts and like the fabric in the leg better. They seem more comfortable. However, I did not swim in them yet or ride in them after a swim. That is on the to-do list soon.

I wish Desoto would have some better designs. They have some great pieces, then an odd (my opinion) leg band at the bottom. If you “customize” something the price skyrockets. I just wanted a black pair of shorts with the checkerboard band. Not possible.

I also find the cuts or the angles of the materials a bit weird for my body.

I will say Desoto has been awesome with customer service etc. So, you can’t go wrong there. I just wish they had better options for designs.

Zoot is interesting but I never know where to start in their range, they’ve got a load of options. Plus, some of the designs are truly awful.

many our customers have adopted the Spider2 Air Top + Spider2 Shorts. Dont hesitate to contact me if you’d like us to send you samples.

best,

Oomph are supposed to be making a comeback to the market - back in the day they were awesome - they use thin ( i think 2 mill) recycled neoprene for there pads which gave real benefit without the diaper wearing feel…

That’s awesome. Such good stuff.
