Tri shoes sizing comparison. Specialized vs. Mavic

Question is has anyone worn both Speciialized and Mavic cycling or Tri shoes? If so, how does the sizing compare? I currently wear a size 42.5 in the Specialized Expert. I’m looking at the Mavic Huez. No LBS carries the Mavic shoes but they can order them. Need to know if they are comparable on sizing because if I order them from my LBS they’ve said they won’t allow a return or exchange if they don’t fit.
Anyone have any insight?

I have both the Mavic Avenge (Ksyrium Elite now I think) and the Specialized Expert. I am a 43 in the specialized and a 43 1/3 in Mavic. They fit similar for me with the Mavic being a little wider.

Not very comparable, the two. I’ve tried Specialized shoes and needed the same size (45) as in Shimano, but with Mavic I’m a 44. The Mavics are relatively narrow and long - for a size 44 they’re narrower than my Sz45 Shimanos but as long.

I go the bright yellow (2013) Mavic Helium shoes and two pair of Specialized (2010)/(2013) Trivents. The Helium is narrower in the toe area. It does have some built in adjustability but I needed to use a shoe stretcher to help with the fit. With use and time, they seem to stretch and fit your form and feel more comfortable than initially.

I’d find a new LBS. That’s piss-poor customer service when there are so many online retailers. Even if I was staying in the same model, just a different year, no way I’d try on just one. Never heard of an LBS doing that. Restocking fee of ~10%? Sure, to cover shipping. No flexibility, they’d lose my business.

Special circumstances surround my reason for purchasing from them. Otherwise I agree, I’d shop elsewhere.

For reference I have a Specialized Tri shoe in 47 and a Mavic in 47 1/3 ( US 12) and find them to be very similar. The Mavic is perhaps a bit narrower througout the forefoot ( in a good way), but also more adjustable.
