Trek Travel

Anyone ever do one of their guided tours? We’re planning to do their Croatia island hopping tour next summer.

Anybody have experience with this trip or any others from this company?

We’ve done their ride camp in Tucson and are just about to go do one of their avid European trips. We had an awesome time in Tucson, the guides were excellent and responsive and it’s really nice not having to fuss around with bikes and accessories - they charge the garmins and lights overnight and the bikes were in good condition. The people we rode with in Tucson were about 80% repeat customers. They obviously put a lot of research into making the off-the-bike experience good as well.

The Europe one will be a bit different since it’s a point to point but we booked it over a year ago and the follow-up and customer service over the year has been excellent.

I would absolutely recommend a trip with them.

My wife and I just did Cinque Terre with Trek Travel earlier this year and had a fantastic time. We’re doing Croatia in October 2020. I have nothing but great things to say about the guides, the organization, and the accommodations. The Cinque Terre trip was “luxury” and they did a wonderful job in picking hotels and restaurants. First class all of the way. The rides were challenging but not crazy (usually about 50 miles and 4,000’ ascent average), and they provided Trek Domane with Ultegra Di2 which were great.

My boss does them. She loves them. Her 17 year-old son usually rides with her. I do not do them because I like longer mileage, but they look fantastic!

I’ve had several friends tell me they are top notch and I don’t recall ever hearing a negative story about Trek Travel.

I have done a couple of Trek Travel trips and really enjoyed them. I did the Croatia island hopping trip with Backroads a few years ago, which is essentially the same trip, and it was excellent. The riding, scenery, hotels, food, support, etc. is all top notch. I’ve found these trips to be the best way to travel. These companies (Trek Travel and Backroads) do an excellent job taking care of all the logistics. You just show up and ride. You’re gonna love it.

The Viking Cruises of the cycling world. Really good; really expensive. Enjoy…

Done two (Tuscany and Provence), with our third company next summer (Norway!) They are amazing.

My husband and I just finished the Epic Climbs of the Tour de France tour, which included watching a couple stages of the race and riding seven of the most famous climbs of the Tour. It was definitely epic. Obviously, very expensive, but I don’t know how we could have put that together on our own. The guides were spectacular and worked their butts off, the group was good, and the riding was obviously amazing. Neither my husband nor I are the most social of people, but we enjoyed the group we were with and had a spectacular time. If you can afford it, go for it. They take great care of you.
