Trek Speed Concept brake rubbing

Looking for some fellow speed concept owners here… Since I’ve gotten the bike my rear brakes rub whenever I get out of the saddle on a climb. I am not swaying back and forth or anything. I have tried everything and the only thing that seems to work is if I set the calipers as wide as possible, which makes them useless but they don’t rub. I also have greased the skewer to make sure the wheel is set as tight as possible.

Anyone else experience this? Any fixes?

I have a Gen 2 and mine were rubbing because the small black plastic concaved piece was broken on the right side. Otherwise, I don’t see any way for brakes to rub except worn out bearings in your rear hub allowing your wheel to flex.

Try to loosen the pad bolts and the squeeze the brakes. That’s going to alow the pads to settle in the right position. With the brake lever pulled and pads sticking to the rim, tighten the pad bolts to lock them I that position. Fine tune with the set screws on either side to ensure equal spacing on both sides.

If you get brake squeel or noise when you stop repeat the above but stick a credit card between the pad and rim at one end so it angles the pad a bit in. YouTube brake toe-in and you’ll get the picture.
