Trek Madone sizing thoughts

I just ordered a Madone 5.2. I’m 6’0" with a 32" inseam. The LBS insisted I needed a 58cm. They had a 56 in stock but had to order the 58. Now I’m reading some earlier threads and having second thoughts. What’s your opinion? 58 or 56?

can’t really say on 56 vs. 58 for you, but I can tell you that at 6’4" I ride a 60 Madone 4.5.

Awesome bike, I know you’ll love yours…

Not sure if it helps but I’m 6’3" with a 35" inseam and the 58 fit me very well when I rode one.

Did you test ride the 56?

I’m 5’10 and ride a 54 Madone if that helps you. I could’ve gone with a 56, but I just felt like I had too much bike under me.

Did you get the H2 or H3 iteration? There steps b/t sizing are very small with multiple iterations of each size. I’m 6’ and change barefoot with a 34" inseam and ride a 58cm H2(no spacers and -10* 130mm). Wish I had a bit shorter head tube, but I can still work a little less stack with more stem pitch so not out of room to go down yet. I’m super comfy, but feeling like I might want a bit more…not a big deal though.

I’m 5’10 and ride a 58 H2. Stem is 110 with -17 degree angle… One 5mm spacer under.

don’t know what sort of sizing or fitting exercise you went through to get to where the shop recommended the 58…but at 5’9" with the same inseam I’m guessing they were making the call based on your reach needs. FWIW, I’m on a 58 H1 with a 105mm -7deg stem. I like it pretty laid out and low.

I’m 5’-11" 32 inseam and a 56 with 100mm stem is a perfect fit for me.

Could you perhaps steer me in the right direction? I have a 2011 2.1 and just love the snot out of it. The Platiunum model…love.

I have been unsuccessful in finding a low profile top bearing cover. It’s a FSA IS3c. I have a low pro IS2, but it appears the compression ring on the Trek is a thicker/taller one than the IS2 uses. So, either finding an IS2 compression ring or a low pro IS3 is my fix. Is the IS3c a proprietary model for you guys?

honestly, I don’t know the answer to the IS3c question…but an IS2 compression ring PN from your Trek dealer would be 417015.

Its hard to tell with out seeing you on it, but looks like you are in range. Comfort is obviously the key…did you get to try both sizes? FWIW, I am 5’ 10" and have a 54cm 6.9 ssl Madone, but my buddy is just under 6’ and rides a 58cm.

They fitted me a year ago for a Alpha 2.1 but looking me up and down and stating I needed a 58. Once on the bike they adjusted the seat position. This go around, they said 58 because that is what I’m riding now and the seat is reasonably high (about 6" above the where the post / frame meet). I ordered the H3 by the way.

6’1.5" 32 inseam. Test rode a 58 and felt a little stretched out. Never rode a 56.

Whats your saddle height?

40.5" from the ground to top of saddle.

H3, the Trek website doesn’t provide alot of info on sizing. Just says to go by the hieght chart and if you are between sizes, go with the next size larger. I think I’m ok on the height part, just not sure about the horiz. dimensions.

I am 5’9.5" with a 34.5" inseam and I ride a 54; my husband is the same as you–6’0" with a 32" inseam. He rides a 56. With some tweaking we COULD be fit onto the same bike…but we’re better off this way.
